Looking for a dash in craptacular condition

Anybody have a dash they don't like and want to get rid of... I really want to redo my dash, but the car is my dd and I don't want to be driving around without a dash for a few weeks (who am I kidding, months). Thinking of experimenting with fiberglass so I'm not looking for anything super clean, ju...

Cluster without a tach

Does anybody know if there is a cluster out there that doesn't have a tach on it that will fit the AS86 with minimal work. I found that one out of a 4runner looks like it MAY fit, but I haven't had a chance to put my hands one one. I want to try to find something that has a speedometer in the center...

Re: GTS LSD rear Differential on SR5....???

I just picked up a GTS rear lsd differential with disc brakes with e-brake cables from a 1987 AE86 :) and was wondering if it will be a direct bolt on with no modifications on my SR5. Well, I was told that it will bolt up, however I'm concerned about the drive line, rear links being too short or to...

Re: Improving Suspension and Handling

"Unusable on the street" is very subjective. It depends on what you are used to and how well your municipality maintains their roads. Personally I am running 8k/6k coilovers on the street and wouldn't have it any other way. Many people don't think that setup is streetable. It's definitely ...

Re: Mechanical fuel pumps failing

That heat shield is basically a hard plastic unless they make a new and improved one. The heat shield is on the OEM manifold. If you are running headers it probably is too hot. That part is really to isolate the fuel pump from the head so that it doesn't draw heat from the head. If you have been run...

Thanks glock30! heard a lot about you and the 4AC. I feel honored that you like my car :D ... With 300k on the motor it's probably time for a rebuild or an entirely new power plant HAHA... well... I just read too much and have been through my fair share of 4ACs. I'm kinda envious that you have the ...

Re: Possible to convert SR5 rear axles to use disc brakes?

A year later, and I'm only at the parts-acquisition stage. I decided not to do the Wilwood calipers. The calipers with cable parking brakes are expensive. I thought about adapting AE92 Corolla GT-S rear calipers and discs to my AE95, but used parts go for too much. I'd be better off buying new / re...

Re: Aftermarket Gauges

Personally, oil pressure, coolant temp and voltage are the most important. I also have an air/fuel gauge, but I'm carbed and like to keep an eye on the mixture. Oil temp is good if you drive it hard.

Re: Hatch vs Coupe Brake Differences

Rock auto is usually cool about stuff like that. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has ran into this issue. Honestly I think the only thing you may be able to order from a parts store that are different between a hatch and a coupe are the rear shock thingies for the hatch.

Re: Hatch vs Coupe Brake Differences

Make sure when checking online catalogs or going to the local parts store to ALWAYS* order parts for a coupe if you have a AE86. If you order hatchback parts they usually give you FWD parts. *there are a few exceptions, but usually once you get to the coupe they will ask you if it is a 3 door (hatch...

There is definitely something wrong with the signin. EVERY time I am logged out I sign in with the correct password and it says that I entered it wrong and I have to go back and answer the question... maybe give it a few more tries.

I've ordered from them before and always received my parts... granted that was years ago. I will agree though that they do suck at answering email... I tried asking them a question last year about their short shift kit (which I already owned) and they never answered.
