Re: Adjustable ITB spacers

does add this space change your power band any where? all this just to clear the heater valve? It allows me to adjust the length very easily. I'll be doing RPM derivative testing to see how it affects power. With how much length it adds to the intake runners I may be able switch to shorter trumpets...

Re: Greddy Blue or Ultimate for 20v turbo build.

If I ran a piggyback I would run the AEM but I do agree with burdickjp I would go with proper engine management. One other nice and pretty affordable option is the AEM EMS4. http://www.matrixgarage.com/?q=store/aem-engine-management EMS-4s are nice, and could be made plug and play with a jump harne...

Re: Greddy Blue or Ultimate for 20v turbo build.

I'd ditch piggybacks for a PNP ECU like this:
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/diyp ... p-384.html

Also, I don't think you need to change out rods for your power goal. OEM 4A rods are stout!

That's not entirely correct. For instance, the 7 rib bigport engine was put in AW11s from 1987-1989.
That also doesn't cover the 4A-GZEs.

Do you know what is the length of the intake manifold + ITB's (i mean the length of the whole assembly without the stacks)? This is what I had written down. Not sure if it was my measurements or copied from someone else: Center intake valve to intake face: 115mm Peripheral valve to intake face: 120...

Adjustable ITB spacers

When you swap a 20v into an AE86 you can't use a dome filter like you can on an AW11 because the filter plate would interfere with the heater valve on the firewall. So I decided to draw up some spacers and have them water-jet cut out of aluminum. Well, I goofed up and found out that 25mm spacers wer...

Pretty cool. Is that just a square of aluminum spacer painted red holding up the COPs? Will they be attached to the valve cover in any way? That's machinists dye, used to determine the locations of drilled and tapped holes for the COP hardware. Notice there's a center line mark and sweep marks of t...

Re: Warning that the Exedy clutch for the AE86 isn't right

C series transmissions don't have throw-out bearings so neither the AW11 or AE92 would use one. I've actually never seen a transverse transmission use a throw-out bearing. They tend to have the input shaft supported at both ends, unlike on FR transmissions, which do not. This makes Exedy's kit even...

2. Place the sensor further down after the final join As I said, I haven't seen issues with the OEM location. That's also with using the 16v manifold on a 20v. Re: "Budget," mostly-stock rebuild questions

If you're going to use an MLS gasket you should ensure you have a good mating surface finish. MLS gaskets require a better finish than the OEM graphite gasket. Many 4A-Gs with MLS gaskets experience gasket failure because builders don't address the surface finish on both the head and block.

I would say that's a dubious claim, but would argue that just as importantly you'll have more linear throttle delivery with the silvertop throttles than you would with the blacktop throttles.

For the greater majority of 4A-Gs, silvertop throttles are more ideal.

If you can find an OEM blacktop flywheel they're a great weight for street use.

I have a preference for Tomei's PonCams, but there are many camshafts with similar lifts and durations.
