I believe these are also different. For one, the taillamps use different harnesses, and different taillamps.

Re: Jdm vs usdm harness difference
yes, significant. US models used an air flow meter to set fuel flow, while the JDM models used manifold pressure(vacuum) to set fuel flow. Completely different systems.

Re: OST Cylinder Head Porting Services
Wow... it's been a year... but somethings never change, and again track season is around the corner....... I've got a finished largeport (OST-113) ready for a new owner. This head build is for a stock, to moderate build utilizing cams from stock duration up to 272, with lifts of upto 9mm. Later this...

Re: My red hatch (fix-up and restoration)
Gottcchaaaa... Very good to know! I think I might be okay since my cams aren't as aggressive as your poncams from a degree standpoint. I had Dan (oldskewltoy) source me some Cat 244 / 8mm lift cams. What compression ratio pistons did you get? I'd be very curious to see what kind of numbers you will...

Re: Engine choice
I can buy a 20v silvertop head quite cheaply to try, do you know if there is any truth in coolant passages not aligning correctly with 16v engine blocks? l thought all of the later blocks were the same. as far as I know the only issue with using a 20V block is one of the cast reinforcements (with /...

Re: Engine choice
bigport manifolds are quite restrictive - especially just above the bend. Even without TVIS I don't believe it flow as much as the smallport manifold. The 20V is likely got the best potential as far as capable intake flow. The Silvertop head has 36cc chamber volume same as the 16V heads, while the B...

BC springs are good for 11mm of lift and fit in the stock spring seats. I've checked - https://www.club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15683&start=30#p104740 I don't run the engine past 8200 rpm do you think those springs would cope ok? (Re. the comment about 7MG quality in the post) Engine uses...

one problem with stroker kits, you tend to lose crankshaft strength because you lose journal overlap.

Thanks for the pics. WOW, that spring comp., you've spent a LOTTA time with it even if you do the removal with a hammer & socket! Weld a nut & use your drill?? / Also, a nicer surface might increase its sellability. The surface has been machined... .004". I'll get a photo tomorrow........

Not a fan of test beds for engine break-in. You can't put a load on them to properly break in the rings.

Re: My 2024 4AGE 16v build
stock early cams are 204 degrees at .050, later cams are 198. Duration at a specific lift is a more accurate measure of a cam then "advertised duration" As far as the Cat cams are concerned, I can also get matched sets (same duration for both). Stock cams stop making power at 6600 rpm. The...

Not sure why I haven't seen this thread before......... If your budget is correct, "3500-4000 $ budget" you will be tough pressed to build much. A 7AG would add a bit more as well. I'd recommend you start listing the costs of all you have mentioned, add in rebuilding parts (bearings, pumps...

Re: 7AG build thread!
Another not a fan for a 7AG 20V, the intake valves are too small, compared to a fully ported big valve largeport head. also the TRD F/A ITBs don't require an adapter for use on a largeport head. I wouldn't want to see the air flow disruption with an adapter that goes from the long wide TRD ITB to th...

It's getting closer.... A bit further.... while the thermostat is essentially the same, the t-stat housing/coolant outlet gasket is only 5V, so I bought ($6) some gasket material and made one. https://gallery.ostportworks.com/albums/userpics/10005/normal_T-stat_housing_and_gasket.jpg https://gallery...
