Re: T50 rebuild options

Could you give me a little bit more information on the T50s shortcomings? Simple really the T50 began life as a T40 running behind 70-105hp("T" engine series). It later got the 5th gear, but the internals strength remained. Just as an example, the 18RG(140hp/130foot/pounds) ended up using...

Re: T50 rebuild options

If your plan is to mount this behind your stroker, I'd recommend looking into either a W58 upgrade using Niteparts bell housing, or a J160 upgrade using an SQ bell adapter. T50 just isn't strong enough, and it is more than just the gear sets that is suspect.

Re: 5.5AG build thread!

I've been recently commissioned to build a big valve 5AGTE from a smallport donor. It will be using a 1st gen HKS stroker crank, Molnar rods, custom Traum piston (10:1), and of course a OST big valve head. 1st custom made part: a sump spacer - allows use of the windage tray without contacting the cr...

Re: Altezza Gita (aka Lexus IS300 Sportcross)...

We had one, our biggest complaint - poor load capability... mostly do to its shape. We couldn't get much to fit in the back...... it also wasn't that efficient. It also doesn't use trailing track rods (like an AE86) to locate the front wheels, the track rods hold it in place from the rear, and this ...

Re: My red hatch (fix-up and restoration)

If I swap injectors wouldn't I also need a bigger fuel pump? I'm actually not sure what the flow rate of the stock one is. Stock replacement fuel pump(from Walbro) is 80 lph - unsure of what the OEM one's actual volume is.... I'm pretty sure(albeit not knowing) you can get away with a bit more inje...

That looks pretty good! Other than the TVIS dip, the torque looks good. Yea I'm pretty happy with it. What do you think about the AFR? How much better could I get it running with a tunable ECU? The Poncams should make power over 7000 rpm... If you go again, I'd have the dyno operator to make the pu...

Nothing wrong with a "mild" 150hp 4AGE. There is something to be said for stuffing your foot into it, smiling, and not getting a ticket.

I believe these are also different. For one, the taillamps use different harnesses, and different taillamps.

Re: Jdm vs usdm harness difference

yes, significant. US models used an air flow meter to set fuel flow, while the JDM models used manifold pressure(vacuum) to set fuel flow. Completely different systems.

Gottcchaaaa... Very good to know! I think I might be okay since my cams aren't as aggressive as your poncams from a degree standpoint. I had Dan (oldskewltoy) source me some Cat 244 / 8mm lift cams. What compression ratio pistons did you get? I'd be very curious to see what kind of numbers you will...

Re: Engine choice

bigport manifolds are quite restrictive - especially just above the bend. Even without TVIS I don't believe it flow as much as the smallport manifold. The 20V is likely got the best potential as far as capable intake flow. The Silvertop head has 36cc chamber volume same as the 16V heads, while the B...

one problem with stroker kits, you tend to lose crankshaft strength because you lose journal overlap.
