Re: HKS 5AGE stroker crank (40mm rod journal) w/ Molnar 40/20 rods

can thiis fit for HH red top block?custom pistons? Yes - if you are asking if this will fit a smallport 4A block all "A" cranks fit all "A" blocks as the main bearings are the same . kinda rushed to answer.... a 7A crank will fit the 4A journals, but it is too big to rotate - so...

Re: OST-053: Massaging a 20V Blacktop

What method did you use to get the head so clean? I work with a couple of machine shops, part of the fees in doing head work is a professional cleaning, and checking the casting for its pressure holding ability - make sure there are no porosity issues Oooh, that's pretty neat. What are the big adva...

OST-053: Massaging a 20V Blacktop

http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/OST-053a.jpg My client asked me to overhaul his Blacktop (for his AE86). It comes to me with a spun #2 rod bearing (atypical, in my exp usually it's #4). The rod is toast, and the crank would need to be turned. "Would", not "will". My c...

Re: OST-054: 3 rib with snap

As many heads that you rebuild , take 25 minutes and make a holding fixture from small section of angle iron, that will bolt on to your bench grinder. As long as you set the valve stem square to a fine grit wheel, you can easily remove a couple thou by hand at a time. Just have a container of water...

Re: 4AGZE N/A conversion/differences between 4AGE and 4AGZE

the only significant difference between a 1988 4AGE, and a 1988 4AGZE are the pistons. Both use essentially the same block, and crank, and connecting rods. While the above is accurate, if you compare a 1986 4AGE to a 1988 4AGZE, then EVERYTHING is different.... block, crank, rods, pistons are all di...

14 of the 16 valves came in too tight for my shim bank (.001" variance from .110"-.125"), so I brought them back to the machine shop to get tipped (shortened) so they would be in my shim banks shim range. http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/valves_tipped.jpg As you can see the ...

As to your 5th gear... you might look for an Mfactory overdriven 5th gear/shaft. There are a few out there, just have to find someone selling. Interesting that you are doing a Blacktop, as I currently have a client who I'm overhauling their Blacktop, doing some porting along the way. I'll be sharing...
