I'm planning a TVIS 16 valve rebuild in my 87 GTS race car, planning on using mild cams, a litle bump in compression, leaning toward reliability more than HP, planning on keeping stock ECU, otherwise I'm bumped into class I don't belong How far can I go with the build before the TVIS gets in the wa...

do you know what the average cost is to ship a head? im a bit interested in your service. thanks let me know from most areas in the USA... somewhere between $30 and $40. there is some cash to be saved by shipping USPS. springs.... make the ratio 3 to 2 favoring the front. I'm running 300# springs up front, and 200# springs in the rear. If you are looking for a wee bit more oversteer(easier to initiate a drift) you might try 4 to 3 ratio bushings.... make sure they are in good condition, it is doubtful you can stil...

^Will a high compression 4age like that(12.2 to 1) handle 91 octane fuel? it might.... or might NOT.... you might have to adjust ignition (or cam) timing to get it to run without ping.... if I de-shroud the chambers.... it should have no problems. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/oldeskewltoy...

Re: Bolt size needed for engine stand
IDEAL bolts... for the stands I use.... the trailing arm mounting bolts... perfect length.
not sure if they are perfect for you. to determine your "perfect" measure the depth of the engine stand mounts that fit to the block, add 13mm to it (12-15 is ok)
bolt thread is 12 x 1.25

from memory, the Greddy uses 8kg frt springs and 6kg rear. also from memory a stock GTS used 1.9kg fronts and 2.2 kg rears. What I've found to make both a good riding, as well as good handling AE86 (and by default E7s) is a front rate of 300#s (5.5kg) and a rear rate of 200#s (3.6kg) The Greddy damp...

Very very noob. But how do you exactly read those graphss bottom is rpm levels... sides are power (torque and HP) Normally the line that starts higher on the graph @ the left is torque. This is usually some "curve" shape. Horsepower is the line that begins(@ left) lower but builds as the ...

I guess my main question is are you more with 16vs over 20vs? As in liking the 16v more with performance reliability when built. Or are you just working on 16vs to know it more and more? I work with 16V so far because the engine shop near me has a reputation as one of the BEST 4AGE shops in the nat...

ANY time a different cam is installed you should check clearances. As xploding-twincam mentioned, to determined the correct shims needed after installing different cams (correct me if i'm wrong), checking clearance is done when the cam is at .050" is that right? Just needed you to refresh me o...

Concerning best engines.... the one I recommend on page 2 is ONLY for use with a stock ECU. The machine work on the small end of the rod to accommodate the 20mm wrist pin weakens the rod some.
