Re: Silvertop Engine Codes.
When you have that much codes from that much different and unrelated parts, my first thought is that you've got a messed up ground or something like that for the ECU. RPM signal comes from the dizzy O2 sensor is in the exhaust TPS is on the throttle body Speed sensor goes through the instrument clus...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials
Thnx  The FX you're reffering to is probably the AE82 which was a lot more boxy and with sharper lines. This is an AE92 hatchback with a aftermarket bodykit. Still a work in progress though to get it back to a somewhat decent condition  When I eventually carb the 4A-GE, it will be tun...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials
The before dyno was the stock, untouched motor as from the factory with Aisin carb and about 140.000km's on the odometer. It gave about 78hp at the wheels, which with a typical FWD powertrain loss of 15% translates into 89.7hp. Toyota reported 90hp at the cranck for the 4A-F when new. So I'd say it ...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials
'typical' weber fits a wide range of displacements. You'd spend a chunk to get it 'dialed-in'. That's coming from experienced old schoolers. Most 'enthusiasts' not going thru all that Of 100 carbed 4AGE, do you think 3 of them better tuned than a healthy stock 4AGE ? I don't, so all that 'proves' i...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials
Sizing carbs or throttle bodies is mostly dependent on what you intend to use the engine for, and what other mods have been made to the engine. Everything from 40's to 48's have been used on the bigport head, in cars ranging from near stock to fully built racecars. If you were happy with the 40mm S...

Well, to late for that I guess. I'm already pretty sold on the carb path  I already went over to the dark side when I bolted two 40mm sidedraft Solex ADDHE's to my 4A-F engine :D https://thumbs-eu-west-1.myalbum.io/photo/540/91059bc2-a218-4964-86ec-083086524cf4.jpg https://thumbs-eu-west-1.myal...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials
Let me revive an old thread  Because I've got a question I can't really seem to get an answer to. I've got an bigport 4A-GE from an earlier build that I want to repurpose for a carburated car. Since I kind of want that car to stay carbed, I'd like to do a carb conversion to that 4A-GE. Now, I ...

Glass beading. It's kinda like sandblasting, but instead of using a very abrasive material, I use glass beads. That can be used on practically every material without really harming it

Ghehehe I don't mind a good rant :P Thanks for sharing the Ogura info. I really dind't think those units would reach 63% And I was impressed with those TVS's, that's why I looked into them. Re: 4A-GE Smallport intake manifold measurements
Well, I was kind of leaning towards the Lysholm 1200AX. A 1200cc Twin Screw with good proportions to bolt it to the 4A-GZE. They give a compressor map on their website, so no mysteries there: http://www.lysholm.us/pdf/diagram_lys1200ax.pdf But I believe it's the same unit as Whipple uses ;) Adiabati...

Thanks for the offer, but I'm a metalworker myself so I have the means to fab one up myself ;) Besides, I'm going with a different supercharger setup, so I don't have any need for mountingpoints for the SC12 etc. I'm looking into twin screw chargers  Measurements for the diameter and lenght...

4A-GE Smallport intake manifold measurements
Hi guys, I don't know if anyone ever did some measurements on the 4A-GE Smallport intake manifold before. But I just did to have some data to see if I can use them in designing my own intake manifold for my 4A-GZE. Figured that some people here might find this usefull information, so here is what I ...

Re: Smallport intake manifold data
No problem ;) I have never really looked at a Honda intake manifolds, so I wouldn't really know. Those Honda manifolds might be better for flow, but the Toyota throttle body is more than large enough to accomodate the needs of the 4A-GE. This manifold had more volume to it than I eventually t...

Re: whats a good exhaust to run on an ae92?
Depends on what you expect from it. Do you want performance low duown in the revs? Do you want the engine to breathe better in peak rpms? Or do you just want a nice showpiece for under the hood?

At least you can still shim the valves to spec without the direct need to remove the cams etc. Imagine you would have to mill down the entire bucket, palce the cams again, measure...damn, still not right, cams out again, buckets out again etc, etc and that 16 times! Shims are not as bad as some peop...

All gearboxes of the same series schare the same general internal dimentions and parts can be swapped. Re: Ae92 levin front end conversion!
There should be 'long' bolts or srews on the back of the housing. With those you can ajust the reflector behind the bulb and adjust your lightbeam.
Be carefull though, a lot of them gathered some rust over the years and might not turn so easily anymore...

Since you said your brackets are not sliding in the supports, my guess is you have a USDM car right? Left hand drive you say? And I guess you do not have a Coupé? (That has a pretty much symetric dash...) If you have to use a long gauge cluster, then yes...it does look strange but apart from some wiring and changing the feul and watertemp. sensors it is pretty much plug&play (if you can source ...
