Re: help a n00b build a 1.8L 4age?

Interesting. I found a pretty reputable shop in my area so I'm going to give them a call and see what they say. Side note, I took everything out of the boxes today just to get a quick glimpse of what I got: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50507917612_695f4b330e_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.co...

Re: help a n00b build a 1.8L 4age?

An exchange would be awesome if I find out that the overbore is a no-go. I'll have to reach out to BC to see if they allow anything like that. .. but then again, like jondee said, I definitely fall into this category. On the other hand you have those who like to push the envelope... take a few risks...

Welp! The deal is done! On top of the parts I listed above, I also got a new clutch, driveshaft, and another 16v head. I think its a good deal considering I have only "spent" 2k. Anyways, Jondee I actually read that thread today during my 10 hr drive! While I totally get everyone's concern...

Re: help a n00b build a 1.8L 4age?

Just did a quick search... BC3363 should be a 20V exhaust valve - Not a 16V exhaust valve, the listed specs suggest that.... 4.97mm stem, and 108.4mm length are specs for 20V valves... you want 5.95mm stems, and 99.75mm length for 16V..... ( didn't check anything else.... ) checking a bit further.....

Re: "Kentucky AE86: A Levin Story"

For your "weird hesitation/throttle problem. It feels like its not getting enough fuel" Try a Brute Power P/N 2910260MS fuel pump. It's a direct replacement for the stock pump. If you have an adjustable reg. Set it at 39 psi. Big time improvement over the stock [probably 30yr old] Toyota ...

Damn! Its been a while! Since the last post I upgraded my front brakes to T3's Baby Daddy kit. Jondee, yes you're totally right. Trust me, having the data and knowing how to read it are two totally different things. I deal with that first-hand everyday haha I like that picture you posted because that shows where all the magic happens; the piston valve stack-up. For example, one particular mod...

Re: Garage Star vs T3 Baby Daddy brake kits

I was dead set on doing a brake upgrade. My car will be about 75% street use on stock motor and decently sticky tires. I was talked out of doing upgraded calipers etc. The majority of the advice given was just to upgrade the pads and the brake lines. I decided to go with a street/sports pad and som...

Re: Celica Supra Wheels - Aftermarket Lug Nuts

If I was running longer wheel studs I'd go with open ended lug nuts. ... but the real concern should be the lug seat in the wheel. Most aftermarket wheels/lugnuts are angled so its okay, but the oem wheels aren't always the case. Not sure about the celica supra wheels, but most, if not all, oem Toyo...

Re: Shock Dyno Data Anyone?

I would bet that the Hitachi Automotive Systems corporate office already has hundreds of benchmarking studies on file, for all major shock suppliers. See if they are willing to share the info. That would narrow the field for any additional testing. davew7 I'm sure they do, but unfortunately I'm jus...

Shock Dyno Data Anyone?

So, I'm sitting here bullsh*tting at work and just thought of something that would be kind of cool, if anyone here is a nerd like I am. Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP

... definitely keep us posted on progress! I know I'll be paying attention. The thing to keep in mind is that the amount of power that an engine can produce is directly related to the amount of air that you can get into the cylinders. Changing the induction system from a single TB to ITB's has very...

I'm glad this thread came up because I had a similar question about the MAP thing, but you all already answered it. I wasn't planning on going ITBs anytime soon, but I couldn't pass up a good deal on some silvertop throttle bodies! I still need to buy an adapter plate, stacks, and ECU. Most likely g...

LOL I know, the name is kind of odd. In context with their product lineup it makes sense since the bigger version is called the "Big Daddy", but then again the phrase "Baby Daddy" on its own ..... Yeah, I figured these kits would be kind of overkill, but then again T3's 20% black...

Garage Star vs T3 Baby Daddy brake kits

So, I took my AE86 to my first track day ever and absolutely destroyed my pads after the first 20 minute session. I ended up snapping a bleeder valve on one caliper too towards the end of the day.
