Re: opinions on my efi journy
Yeah... oversize injectors don't make any more power :) If you are using Denso injectors just check that you have the right clips. The high res injectors have a different clip to low res injectors so you might need to order some new clips. Cheers... jondee86 yea right now I have 7mgte injectors in ...

Re: opinions on my efi journy
Just a thought.... you can use low resistance injectors if you put resistors in line with them to limit the current draw. That's what the resistor pack on some versions of the 4AGE does. Your MicroSquirt® EFI controller will limit the injector current to ~5 Amps per driver. This may be too much for...

Re: opinions on my efi journy
What you have wired up is a generic ignition module. It takes the AC signal from the VR sensor and conditions it to produce a 12V DC square wave output. The output can be used as a cam signal to fire a single coil in the same way that points ignition takes a cam signal off the distributor shaft. Wo...

Re: opinions on my efi journy
Here is the diagram from the Microsquirt manual and I have marked the connections that you should be using is you have the basic 4AGE distributor... pic The distributor should have two VR sensors, one on the 24T wheel (crank sensor) and one on the 4T wheel (cam sensor). The manual refers to these a...

There are some very good articles on the interweb on how to wire and setup your Microsqirt. This is one of them... http://www.microsquirt.info/uswiring.htm You will need to study these guides until you have at least a basic understanding of how an EFI engine management system works. It may seem int...

Re: opinions on my efi journy
also I CAN NOT find a small port fuel rail to save my life! I have a spare one here in New Zealand. They usually sell here for around NZ$100 and postage to the US will be around NZ$35. So if you get stuck NZ$135 = US$88 and it's yours in a couple of weeks for US$92 (including Paypal fees). Cheers.....

Re: opinions on my efi journy
Yes... the best thing that you can do is get a piece of paper and create a basic wiring diagram. Identify every input and output that will be connected to the ECU and where your power supply will be coming from. Something like this... http://www.useasydocs.com/details/ew3_hires.gif You will want to...

Re: opinions on my efi journy
OK... with that engine spec you definitely need full control over ignition timing. So looking at the Microsquirt spec sheet I see that it mentions... 4* logic level ignition outputs (4cyl COP, 8cyl wasted) The key words are "logic level" which means that it can be used to drive up to four...

Boomslang popular with the miata crew. Standalone does not have to be expensive. That is a choice you make Our starion Megasquirter does those plug n play as well, for very reasonable money. Remote tunes too. I wouldn't lock myself into stock loom or that shitty distributor placement either (interf...

Hey everyone! Thought I would follow up so others have the info as well. I found a company that makes a plug and play patch harness to use an AEM ems-4 ecu with the jdm trueno harness! The company is BOOMSLANG.COM Thing is expensive but might solve others issues as well!

Re: JDM KOUKI ECU OPTIONS
For a "plug and play" there are a few out there. If you want a piggyback set-up I'd say the best would be a Greddy e-manage. The JDM units can be controlled with a piggyback but the USDM unit cannot. For a PnP look at AEM, I think I saw one available there. So everything ive found so far ...

Re: old ignition set up from japan!
Both the Nodiz (= no dizzy) and Megajolt eliminate the distributor entirely, but need a 36-1 or 60-2 crank trigger wheel to be installed. Another possibility is Microsquirt (a member of the Megasquirt family) that can use the cam position and rpm triggers that are in the base of your distributor to...

That's some old school electronics there... and the website classifies that collection of parts as "Junk" !!!! I would say your chances of getting it to work would be slim, but if you are a gambler you could try :) There are other systems around (Megajolt, Nodiz etc) that you could use. T...

IT does look like the idle up and rpm gauge wire look similar so I will look again it just sucks cuz the previous owner cut a lot of those wires haha Sounds like the right wire, you might have to trace it back and see if there are any shorts on it. Even possibly that it could be the wrong wire there...

Re: USDM AE86 TACH
Yes I wired everything just like the picture with the black wire to the violet on the adapter. but did I grab the wrong wire? I used the wire that is black with what looks like brown dots on it? is this not right? On the USDM GTS the tacho gets its signal from the black wire on the igniter. The SR5 ...
