Re: UPDATE: 5.5agze 20v coming Spring 2015

Sick build man.
On my car I did a venturi on the exhaust that provides constant vacuum at the crankcase. There are also electric vacuum pumps that do this.
I vent it all to the exhaust and pcv to the atmosphere.
I'd rather plant a few trees and get more hp

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

The first event was at a kart track. Only 1st and second gear on a not very fast but technical course. Besides the added 50whp and 45ft/lb of torque added, the rear was much more unpredictable and unstable. I'd say that on this track it wasnt so bad because of the speed. The next week end the event ...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

First off, the response and the torque from the two liter is insane. Last weekend on the autox, most civics did the last part of the course in 1st gear. I could easily do it in 2nd at low rpms and still have great response and dont miss time shifting. Not bad for stock head and a mustang dyno i beli...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

And then it was time for the engine. Hope to get some love around here even tho its not a 4AGE engine. I'm guessing from reading on various forums that with my setup i can get around 170-190whp, thats gonna be a mean hachi i believe. On stock cams at the moment, those are 264s with 9mm lift. Not bad...

Im also in the middle of a SR20VE swap and thinking on going with a 4.3 R&P. I'm also running 4.78.
However since you are running a 6 speed and have shorter gearing, 4.11 could work.

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

This years season is over. At the beginning the competition wasnt so feirce, I was able to get the first 2 events easily. The car feather weight allowed me to maneuver between the cones in the kart track without a hitch, nothing like the big cars which under steered like crazy. Then I put the roll c...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

This years autox championship is almost over. Have to get at least 3rd in the last event in order to secure my 1st place overall. :) Motorwise, I was debating on keeping the 4AGE 20v, however, havent seen many reliable 150WHP+ 4AGEs around. And in order to get that power the investment is quite high...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

no problems with the cooling kit so far? mine initially cooled too much, swapped for a non-drilled thermostat and it fixed it. now my coolant temp floats up and down... :-( I have a bit of an issue with the temperature getting to 105C for 3 or 4 secs and then stabilizes back to 90C. However i think...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

A video from the event yesterday. Wasnt able to push too much since running out of that track means breaking tons of stuff. My brakes are way too sensitive and its very hard to stop fast and late without locking up. Will have to do something about that. Im thinking upping the MC to 1" from 13/1...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

How so? There is quite a lot of good bang for the buck products for the 4AGE and AE86. Well, the car is pretty old and it needs a lot of stuff in order to keep up with younger, higher powered cars. Also have to fix rust and paint... Last weekend was good and bad. Threw the car to the dyno to dial i...

Re: ae86 sr5 coupe revival

You are right yellowsnow, the axle housing came with drums however I swapped my disc brakes from my older setup which has ae101 solid rear brakes.
Regarding the axles, what i meant is the size of the spline. I guess they are the same as the AE86 zenki since thats what my rear lsd is for.
