Re: Oil Pressure Sensor on ITBs question and after market harness

If you're paying someone to figure all of this out for you... Find someone else... or give the current folks a chance. (I wouldn't, but I've known enough shop owners to know it costs less than $500 to start a licenced "business" with insurance.) Jondee has you covered, down to the sensor t...

Re: What happened here

The offys were exceptional. That was back when they had true artists in the casting department. The things they could (and still can, given the budget) with green sand , planning, and the right alloy were impressive. Especially with the giant old high precision milling equipment we used to manufactu...

Re: What happened here

Yea. The advent of all the 3d scan tools and the inevitable dissemination of the tech really opens things up for one off oddball projects for folks with after hours access. Awesome stuff. The lsx based monsters coming out look like a ton of fun. V16 for marine applications. Ton of cash, but still ep...

Re: What happened here

Huge fan of that car. "Why?" "Why not?" His 100k to drop on machined parts, his business. (Though I think the main and glance shafts cost substantially less than that. Comes down to who you know and the price of a meter long chromoly billet big enough to machine down. I'm g...

Re: What happened here

Don't tell me they can't find factory speakers ? All discontinued. Now that AE** cars have become way over-priced, KE**models are back in demand. They were always popular here but due to limited availability they are also stupid money for clean examples. Now any kind of old RWD Toyota gets sn...

Re: 1985 gts coupe. ae88 FS : FT

Parted ways with a frame off #'s '65 Galaxie 500XL police interceptor a long way back. Didn't run the teardrop hood or triple duece for long. Bench seats and a factory 4 on the floor were epic. Cleaned up on the street. 390 just begged to rev out and embarrass folks. It eventually got shipped to Aus...

"Drawback" on the supra. Bit serious.

Re: What happened here

That was more or less.the equation for the supra. Wanted a one time buy in for a car thatd do everything I'd want. Had to be at least as nimble as the mk2 mr2 I'd been driving for years. It was. ^_^ I do still miss my mr2 though. Adding a small truck to do the rest seems practical. That, or a small ...

Re: What happened here

Appears ill be facing a new question now. Does the Corolla somehow turn into a transmission swap for the Supra? Also, will be saving the coupe from the crusher - just a question of who's the next owner for the journey. Going to probably list it up non-op for the moment but go back to working on it. ...

Re: What happened here

Indeed. Was trying to avoid getting too deep into stripping the truck apart for a brake line but such is life. Hasn't been touched in years. Worst case I'll cut the bump stop off the bottom of the frame and replace it as well. Wheel bearings are on the way out, so we'll be doing those eventually as ...

Re: What happened here

For boosted vehicles the filters do usually work out. Bit more particulate gets through them but the performance is nice. Truck is kicking my ass. Got the brake hard line cut and ready to come out, then realized the soft line connection is thoroughly rust welded to the bracket. Going to have to cut ...

Respect to you for looking after your neighbours. Re: What happened here

Yea. I've always loved the mini-headgasket exhaust gaskets they came up with. Just utterly silly in terms of compensating for misalignment or potential reuse. You could potentially make a circle jig with a carbide bit on a dremel and do a copper wire o-ring gasket on the flanges with some high temp ...

 Probably less so than top gear when they drove through the south.

I'd rock it, but only if we can rig up a 12' tall motorized tail fin out back.

For the sake of irony I'd have to learn to surf so I could park it along the beach to screw with sunbathers.

Worst case you could check out some of the Wilwood master cylinders. Their guys can help you size things just right for whatever brake setup.you're after once they know what calipers you're using.

We are in the suburbs, maybe a couple of hundred feet above sea level and a mile from the coast. That's an upcoming hobby for me. Been setting aside things for sheetmetal work for a while now. Best part is there are guys that can do that with a carved tree stump and a few hammers. Simple truth there. If you put in the oversight time and demand (and pay for) quality you can get it pretty easily - you may have to physically be there and learn some Mandarin though. On things like solid state sensors the doa rate is pretty low, and has to be. Big box stores wouldn't put up with i...
