Re: Rebuilding/remanufacturing racks

Joints are generally a parts catalogue away - just not the kind that are readily accessible or easy to read, Bump steer is pretty much just a semi-compicated math problem. Once you're to the point where you're capable of fabbing new mounts it's just a suspension calculator away from figuring things ...

Re: Rebuilding/remanufacturing racks

Honestly forgot how tiny our racks are end to end. About 21.75" to the pivot points. Even na/NB miatas are 24". A Mustang II rack may be an option, but it would have to be shortened - and the rod ends figured out bin diving with calipers and tapes. They're also generally cheap and pl...

I'd honestly just call.around some local shops and make sure they're well reviewed. Might luck out. It's that or junkyards/copart... Quietly wondering about racks from other makes and models. Re: Rebuilding/remanufacturing racks

I was trying to go that route, but when you add any rack on rock auto, it either auto-discontinues it for you or if you manage to get it into your cart, it'll throw up a "this item is not currently available" when you try to go to payment. Pretty much the same for any rack (mr2 or ae86) o...

I had a similar issue, but it was random. Turned out to be a loosely twisted 12v ignition supply feed in the main loom on the firewall the previous ....ing idiot had cut, rubbed together, then tucked back into the loom. Was a real sight to see.

California tries to but they do it differently. In CA your headlight must be XX inches from ground level. I think that number is 21 inches but dont quote me on it. Was similar in Detroit, NY, and here in MD as well. They flat out ignore the crazy lifted trucks, despite having light and bumper minim...

Rack can actually be fine if with other issues in the suspension. My 2c. Agreed. I knew CA was on the ridiculous end of things, (never mind the new exhaust fines) but wow. For comparison's sake - out here in Maryland you'll occasionally get a fix-it ticket for an exhaust. Change it, have a state trooper sign off... Emissions are every 4yrs (I think, Supra is tagged historic). Wh...

Generally just new boots and tie rods, but if the actual surfaces are gouged because of debris ingress, rebuilding is about the only way to actually fix it - filling low spots and voids with weld and machining the rods back to new specs (or whatever size the shop has on hand) Most often folks just t...

I might consider trading the AW11 and speed3 for an S-FR, if they ever get it out, and released in the US I'd be hard pressed to let go.of the aw11. I miss my sw20. Assuming you want to use the stock harness you can pull the connector out of a spare/dead/junkyard ecu - or likely order one from the diy site. Then just re-pin things accordingly. ^_^

Re: AE86 Lower rubber radiator mounts

For what it's worth, I've used heater hose as a spring insulator without issue.

Odds are any spare rubber fuel line, power steering return hose, or small heater hose can be used to rig up a decent bushing.

Hope it helps,

Nick. ^_^
