Re: Which is better? Lowering spring or coilovers?
For me, lowering springs with aftermarket struts give the best performance out the box...bolt on and go (after an alignment). For that pimp factor, drop it to the floor with coilovers and have every big-titted chick NEVER want to ride with you again. Once you can dial in your own suspension, get ful...

Re: Which is better? Lowering spring or coilovers?
I'm not familiar with yellow speed, but I've come to realize its not ALL about the name. I've used springs from different brands that performed well, and others that were the same brand and part #, but were bought a few months apart and are clearly made by a different company. What is important, is ...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
He's probably already scrapped the car and went back to his BMW's. Great team work gang. :| lol. Yeah, almost...I might just sell all my cars once I'm done with this project and just get something I can enjoy...V8 M3? I no longer have my e39, its in my brothers garage. (just memories now ). Some pi...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
Well I don't have the right engine for this car, the sr5 harness is questionable, the transmission is anyone's guess. The ecu is unknown and I don't have a driveshaft to fit the non LSD celica supra diff. Im lazy and have other cars i need to build...At this point, I'm not going to troubleshoot and ...

Re: Hardwire a gts eng harness into sr5?
Your gonna need time and patience...and a good wiring diagram for a SR5 and kouki.. Hopefully your harness isn't as ripped apart as mine. If youre paying someone to splice your harness, get someone who is familiar with the GTS and SR5, otherwise it can quickly and easilly turn into a nightmare....or...

Re: Help Me Start My Build!!
I'm a noob to the AE86 too, but NOT to building cars or doing a swap or two. The ppl on this board are very good at giving advice and are willing to help in whatever way they can (unlike the douchebags on BMW boards). Anyhow, I purchased a 86 SR5 that has been hacked, molested, and then abandoned ha...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
...and keep in mind that I want easy and cheap. Dropping in a complete ca18 with harness seems way easier than trying to figure out some backyard mechanics hack job. I heard the ca18 is a mini RB???

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
Wow, this is awesome! And I still do read this thread, just got busy over the past few weeks. The more I look at a 25yr old 4age/aze, the less I want it/want to screw with it. Also, I don't what condition the trans is in. I hate the "old car smell" that these Toyotas have (my 84 Mitsubishi...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
Yes I know I'm all over the place here with some ideas that are better than others, but that's the reason why I'm trying to figure it out BEFORE the build. I've wasted far too much time and money by changing my mind halfway through other builds. I have terrible ADD that has me starting new projects ...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
even better question? are my current parts worth selling in order to restart the project my way? Or are these parts worthless? Maybe if i had a fuel rail with injectors i could find out. Heres the video of the car running. I wasnt actually there to see this

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
And ive come to the decision that I want to spend as little $ as possible and have fun with this car. With that being said, Im turning into an old lazy bastard and want to do the least amount of wrenching also. Sand the car down, primer it and maybe go overfenders. I dont know how to do body work bu...

can anyone tell me how to identify this ecu? Sorry about the big ass pics. Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
I have no extra parts so far...I'm supposed to get the reworked driveshaft from the shop next week. The guy I bought the car from "says" that the supercharger is being rebuilt but needs a supercharger bracket. I'm not sure if I want to go s/c over turbo (yes, bc turbo makes cool sounds) bu...

Re: first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
Basically I bought this car unfinished and hacked up. I guess it used to be carburated but now its FI but missing injectors and fuel rail. I don't know what ecu is in there and what has been done to the harness. Ive seen the engine run but it was from a mechanic spraying fuel into the injector holes...

first project AE86...bought in pieces, wtf!
So I came across this ae86 for super cheap...apparently it has a twin cam swap with supercharged head and celica supra diff. I'm not new to engine swaps (my e39 BMW 528 has a 1jz swap) and I have mix and match parts on my 3 other e36s. I love drifting my M3 but ripping out the subframe bc of driftin...
