AE86 watts link

Hey guys, it's to my understand that the first gen Mazda RX7 had a watts linkage installed from factory, can anyone confirm this?

If so, if the linkage was ripped off an RX7, would it be possible to fabricate a way of installing it onto the rear of an 86?

Thanks!

Largest streetable cams?

Hey guys, I just wanted to know your opinion on the largest streetable cams for a DD (but autoxed) ae86. I was leaning towards 288s, are those doable? What lift would you recommend? I was hoping to get up to a nice 8000-8500rpm red line (after all of the appropriate valve train modifications). Thank...

Tokico HTS102 Damper Help

Hey guys, I was recently looking up the Tokico HTS102 short stroke kit for the ae86 when I came across this: http://i.imgur.com/lPq9bQz.png There is a link for an 84 GTS and a 86 GTS On the 84 link this comes up: http://i.imgur.com/dut9sKI.png And on the 86 link this comes up: http://i.imgur.com/OIY...

Overall size difference in 195/60r14 and 195/50r15

Is there any difference in overall height of 195/60r14 and a 195/50r15?
What about a 195/60r14 and 195/55r15?
Thanks guys!

14s vs 15s

Hey guys, which do you prefer on your 86, 14s or 15s? I want to know as I'm curios for what I should run. I know that the 14s are lighter and reduce unsprung weight and also keep the 86 low, but I hear that the higher 195/60 r14 side wall sacrifices feeling and turn in due to flex. As for 15s the lo...

Re: Flush fitment for AE86

Anything over 205 width is overkill

Got zoom, I just wanted to clarify what you meant by overkill. Do you mean it will cause the car to be imbalanced or it just cost more for no noticeable advantage?

Re: Flush fitment for AE86

Here are my observations after working on setting up an AE86 for track and time attack use for over a year. 1. The car has a high center of gravity 2. The car has a lot of unspring weight 3. The car is camber challenged (due to item #1) 4. The setup information that everyone uses is 25 years old an...

How much power does an AE86 need to feel "quick"

I know for certain the ae86 is not the fastest car in the world, many are pushed away by how slow it feels. But I wanted to know, is there a specific HP target one reaches where the ae86 begins to feel like it has some oomph to it?

Re: Flush fitment for AE86

As I mentioned earlier, I'm not looking to "stance" an ae86, a stanced ae86 is a wasted ae86. I said I'll be trying to get the center of mass/gravity low to aid with cornering. I couldn't care less about what my car looks like in a parking lot, if i did I would buy a VW. If you couldn't fi...

Flush fitment for AE86

Hey guys, I was curious as to know the "perfect wheel size" for an ae86. With the help of Club4ag's expertise I've made up my mind that I either want to run 195/50r15s or 205/50r15s. What would you guys say would be the ultimate wheel size (width/offset) to fill out my fenders w/o scrubbin...

Re: 225s vs 195s

I use 195/60/14 Azenis 615k on my 14x9 TE37v for grip. I like them a lot and they are cheap for a set of four. If you are running 15" rims I would jump to a 205/50/15 tire, so many more choices. Drifting is all about personal preference/style of driving. I've run a few different setups, all on...

225s vs 195s

What's your opinion on the most enjoyable tire size for an AE86? What do you think would be better for an 86 making around 180hp, tuned mainly for grip but also drifts on the side for fun? Also open to any other tire sizes and brands.

But many have seen improvements with modifications. Many people who turbo their cars see improvements in mpg due to the extra torque.

Big cam 4ag MPG

Just a quick question, I plan on running some decent sized cams in the future. Maybe 272/288 or 288/288 cams. How do you think they will affect the MPG (when tuned of course). I know its a general question but I'd just like to know if it would completely demolish my MPG, slightly lessen it or improv...

225 tires on an AE86

I was just curious as to know how an AE86 would respond to 225/50r15 tires on 15x8 (-10ish offset) wheels. The car will be a daily but will also be autocrossed. I've searched on other forums but no straight answers, some people are saying that they are too big for an AE86 and will affect the perform...
