Re: Injector firing

What a great 'find' that diagram is for me! Takes a little thought to get your head around the timings but it is invaluable, thank you. I will check again but I'm fairly sure my loom is set to inject all four at once (we have already had this conversation..) but my engine from the factory has the fo...

Re: Injector firing

Sorry l should have said, l'm using a programmable ecu with the stock loom so l'm just trying to replicate what the stock ecu does.
l have no desire to go sequential.

Injector firing

Does anyone know how often the stock ecu fires the injectors?
Ideally in engine degrees (over 720°) or distributor teeth.
My distributor has 24 ne teeth at 30° and 4 cam? teeth at
180°

Just wondered if there is an issue with mixing synthetic with mineral oils (however small the quantity) for these applications?

What happens if you very slowly increase the power through the problem rpm area?
It may or may not be an acceleration correction problem.

Sure it's a pita to remove/replace but that is only because Toyota do things right, the hidden stuff is done properly too.
I once navigated in a Peugeot 205gti and we had to retire as the dashboard literally fell off

Re: I have a built 7A motor. Need some advice

If the distributor has a pin holding the gear on, remove the pin and rotate the gear 180° on the distributor shaft
Re-fit distributor as normal.
Use a new roll pin to secure the gear.

Re: Wanting to replace Kelforf 193-C Camshafts

I'd not expect those things to make too much difference. In a way it is the standard cam followers that cause the compromise as these effectively limit the cam lift potential, any perfomance cam then has to rely on long duration to get the job done, it is the long duration that can cause driveabilit...

Re: Wanting to replace Kelforf 193-C Camshafts

Whilst l appreciate your post is about changing the cams it maybe possible to get closer to your requirements with careful tuning of camshafts and ecu. Having less overlap at TDC will help idle, retard inlet and advance exhaust cams to get less overlap. Cold and hot starts are all about ecu calibrat...

Re: 20v Blacktop oil temperature high with cooler

If l remember correctly engine oil temps are based on engine rpm.. makes sense.. You are using higher cruising rpm's due to your lower FD so you would expect higher temperatures. Maybe you could try to lower coolant temperature or ideally fit a larger oil cooler. Heat exchangers, oil/water are appar...

igf revisited

So l can't decide if l discovered something here. Timing decided to return to 0° btdc (effectively no signal to ecu) at cold start up. Because of the camshafts l unplugged the cold start injector. Once the csi was re-plugged ignition returned to normal. The 0°btdc seemed random but now, thinking abo...

Just a big shout out for these.
Expensive for a bleed screw but good value considering the engineering involved and the ease at which bleeding brakes becomes.

To be honest the only way l can see an issue with what they charged is if they didn't adhere reasonably closely to a written quote.
I don't know about the US but in the U.K there is a distinct legal difference between a quote and an estimate.

5k$ does sound a lot for that work.
I'm in the U.K where this type of specialist work maybe less expensive, not sure.
I quoted Pounds Sterling but the exchange rate wouldn't make up that difference even if you allowed a 25% error
in actual cost.

Ideally you want the inner balljoint ball centres to be the same distance apart as the AE86 rack.
l would hazard a guess that the balljoint centres are the same distance apart as the track control arm pivot bolt centres.
I might try to measure that sometime.

Try always to use factory style crimps especially for repairs.
I use Male/Female narrow non-insulated bullet type connectors with heatshrink. Those 'orrid blue insulated squashy efforts are sent by the Devil!
Make sure any repair like this is taped into the loom for support.

Re: Throttle body

I'll use some smallport rocker covers that have had AN fittings fitted for breathers, this will free up the original breather inlet in the plenum. As it is a smallport inlet l have already modified the internal air passage to suit. I guess at idle the engine is not fussy about where it gets its air ...

Junkyards here seem to be a great thing of the past.
H&S covid and "climate change" have ensured they are nearly all closed.
Never the less the Bosch valve looks just the job.
I guess if l blocked a few ports l could do away with all of the standard cold start/idle gubbins too?
