Re: Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
if it was burning there would be signs for the amount I lose. there is no way it could stay hidden if it was burning. I'm using 20w50, same results. 1/2 quart every time I drive it into town and back. I'm getting ready to drop the engine. Just so darn busy. Have another full gasket set on the way. G...

Re: Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
What about pcv line on the side? Although unlikely, it's possible the oil is all dumping out the pvc into the intake on right turns. Run the pcv line to an empty bottle or can to observe what comes out, and plug the return port on the manifold, or don't. I had a similar problem when I was in Greenv...

Re: Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
If the roads are really windy where you live try venting the crankcase breathers to atmosphere as a simple test. You will also have to plug the open ports left behind on the manifold/airbox. See if there's any change. explain? what is this going to do? all open ports are blocked. there is a breathe...

Re: Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
no cat, no smoke. and I agree. if I was burning it that fast it should be a HUGE cloud and internal things like the plugs would be so fouled up but they are normal. Someone on another forum suggested I get it all warmed up and just hand rev the thing for a bit at 4-5k rmps and see what happens. Just...

Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
So 20 valve loses oil quickly, like 1/2 a quart every 75 miles or so. I get a single drip of oil on the garage floor after driving it. I've been under the thing while it is running looking around and I see nothing leaking anywhere. I live on a dirt road so just going up the road slowly doesn't produ...

that port on the head that people (like me) just put a filter on, could one actually plum that to the port that normally was for the power steering on the stock airbox? it has that extra barb that none us use

BT VVT gear rattle.
Trying to figure out if this is the start of VVT rattle of death. When I first start the engine after it has been sitting for a day or more, it get a rattle/knock as the engine first fires up before the revs drop down to cold idle. rattle/knock goes away after that. I never hear it again. Its like 2...

I did just switch to 20w50 but haven't driven it around very much to see what happens. the 20w50 definitely made the top end quite down a lot. used to sound like an old typewriter.

Re: Black Top low idle issue
You didn't read through anything but the first post or so did you? it runs now, it drives fine other than the fact it pretty much magically loses lots of oil. Nothing on the outside, nothing but a single drip on my garage floor after driving it, no trail behind me, no smoke anywhere it just goes awa...

Re: 20v BT oil leaks
oddly I'm getting a code now...god this is never ending. Idling the car in the garage for 5-10 minutes it does look like the exhaust cam seal is leaking but it never got to the point of dripping about. I couldn't clean it all up before but is area in this photo is wet all. What could cause that? I t...

Re: 20v BT oil leaks
bunch of photos of what I'm talking about. Oil ultimately ends up dripping on the connection point between the middle and lower timing covers but it looks like it also runs along the seam of those two covers to get there. Odd thing is when I look down in there, wet around the cams but completely dry...

20v BT oil leaks
I know there is a picture of the 16v oil leak locations but does the BT/ST have any areas that might differ from the 16v? I think I'm leaking from the exhaust cam but not 100% sure yet. All the normal areas do not seem to be leaking anything but I'm loosing oil every time I drive and I'm not burning...

yea so bumpage....... Car is working now...After a long wait, some misunderstandings when I dropped it off and what not, she is alive and well. FS/FT: Blacktop 75mm velocity stacks with UNI filters
I have a set of T2 75mm velocity stacks with UNI filters for sale or for trade. Price would $160 shipped, in medium flat rate box. the stacks are a tiny bit beat up but not bad. the UNI Filters are practically brand new. They have like 10 - 15 miles of usage on them. I would trade them for a set of ...

Re: Black Top low idle issue
so I would like to try and do the balancing today so can someone confirm if I am going to do this right since the book is pretty vague and cut off. 1. I closed all the screws down to a point they can't move any further. 2. Turn on the car let it warm up. 3. Put the tool on all 4 ITBs and find the on...

Re: Black Top low idle issue
ok so update: I drove the car again today since I hadn't since doing many things like: moving the one ground, fixing that starter wiring issue, replacing the O2 sensor (replaced today), and putting the stock airbox back on. It seems drivable now. There is a tiny bit of lag from a stand still when yo...

Re: Black Top low idle issue
the odd thing is pad and wheels says at least ELS3 should be accessible to the harness makers but again it looks like no one sets these thing up which I guess I don't get. the other 3 you need to run from the passneger side and tap them and run them to engine bay to set them up, obviously something ...
