Re: Flush fitment for AE86
Here are my observations after working on setting up an AE86 for track and time attack use for over a year. 1. The car has a high center of gravity 2. The car has a lot of unspring weight 3. The car is camber challenged (due to item #1) 4. The setup information that everyone uses is 25 years old an...

Re: AE86 Automatic transmission
Never had an auto so can't confirm but on parts diagram, doesn't look like there's any flex plate, just a spacer (32116)

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
Went digging and I found some rare memorabilia that I'm thinking about trading or selling for parts. What do you guys think it's worth? 1984-1987 Toyota Source books. <- these are not simply sales brochures. These were dealer only books used to train sales staff. Got them when I was working for Toyo...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
Been doing some obsessive research and I think I've settled on a swap, a little different than what's out there right now so will probably require some custom stuff. Probably custom engine/tranny mounts. Going to try and avoid adapter plates/custom flywheels for engine/trans and custom weld a bell h...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
Who or which company would be best to speak with regarding getting a hold of a real J-Blood kit? They used to be here in the states, who's their distributor now?

FRS/BRZ/GT86 6-speed swap vs J160 BEAMs
Anybody done this yet? I've googled but have yet to come across anything mainly J160 from the BEAMs swaps...
Anybody with the BEAMs J160 swap care to comment on how the shifter feels in comparison? Strength? The Toyobarus have one of the best feeling shifters out there

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
I'd prefer a manual rack simply because it kept the engine bay cleaner, it wasn't that much harder to operate and also made swapping engines quick as well. No AC, no PS, modified radiator support. IIRC I could get the engine out at around 30min. Where do I find the racks exactly? The T3 says "...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
Sounds like you and I are in the same boat these days. IF I decide to get back into the car. I am unsure where to go with it... I would think that many things have improved over the years. (other than finding original parts) I've been floating ideas in my head over the years. The first was a Toyota...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
I've been thinking about what I REALLY want from this build and I've come to the conclusion that the theme of this build is essentially reliability and longevity with enough power to keep up with today's 300hp+ minivans. I imagine my son will take over the car eventually, and I hope it'll still be g...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
I have a pretty good idea of what I want out of the vehicle. Just a well mannered street, summer only vehicle that we can autoX or HPDE with. But she gotta be sexy to represent! I actually found some parts tucked away in the garage loft! The dashboard, some of the center console, gauge cluster hell ...

Re: OG Club4AG members. Where are they now?
Same here. I'm just a state over in WI but got lucky and found 3 of my 5 pretty local. Went to IN to pick up my summer DD coupe and brought a rust free chassis from CA. I lost two to rust and they became parts cars. Also had a FX16 GTS which seems even rarer than the 86 but sold that to make room fo...

Re: Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
I don't have any real plans for it at the moment. Just something fun the kid and I can enjoy together, building it up and driving it. Street cruising. Fun twisty roads. Probably autoX and HPDE it as well. I think he has dreams of drifting and such but hopefully we don't go there for a few years afte...

Re: What happened here
Only read through parts of the thread so forgive me if this point of view came up already. And I realize it s a slightly older thread but wanted to throw my 0.02 cents in. Was on Club4ag d@mn near the start when I was in my late teens and had a collection of 5 ae86s by the time I was 20, 2 that beca...

Re: OG Club4AG members. Where are they now?
I guess I'm part of the club. Had 5 ae86s up til...2004? 2005? Sold all but one off for domesticated life. Been hanging onto the one chassis since and kid is finally into cars so we're going to try and revive it. I don't even remember me old forum name. Created this account when the site switched ov...

Reviving an old chassis, alternative parts?
My son has recently gotten interested in cars and asked me about my old chassis I've been keeping around. I told him it was an AE86 and his eyes just got real big. <- yeah, your dad was cool at one time (actually I was in the chassis before it was cool so maybe not, lol). He wants to build it up and...
