I wouldn't consider any cold and/or hot start problem much of a cam problem.
Other then that is it OK?

Less weight & move the engine back. If you've got a min. weight, add it back under the seats. // Also, was thinking a NO2 bottle, a small one under the dash or gutted heater/AC box, like the bottle for paint ball guns. Elec switch/valve & run thin nylon/teflon tubing inside the heater hose. ...

Assuming they're stiffer, higher durometer, I'd mount'm, engine/vise/frame and then twist/move/whatever the other end with an adjustable wrench or drift punch in a hole and just go by their feel.

Checkout YouTube for AC compressor shaft seal replacement/leak/fix.
Some are easy, some ain't, some special tools, some not.
Keep it CLEAN, no surface problems, scratches, nicks, whatever, on the 2 flat smooth surfaces that push against each other, and the shaft & housing.

What's the specific question?
oldeskewltoy has had A LOT of threads about heads & checking volume on this site, and at least 1 gotta be about that head and if he hasn't answered it, it's not a good question.

No.
And I'll say that is not a guess, and I'll say that the amazing jondee86 & oldskewltoy would never guess that also.
Water corrosion, sure, but never seen one localized like that unless the engine was leaning over.

New bolts won't be as smooth, thread & head, as old so you might actually be tightening it less then before.
Yes, thin gasket will retard the timing, head cut even more. How much? IDK.
Good luck.

Re: Odd heater behaviour
IIRC, I could give the heater a quick feel while driving, but you're RHD. Just a one time confirm the heater's venting is open & what's blowing is what's happening in the core. The heater's outlet goes right to the thermostat and cools it down, slowing the flow. That's as much as I'm able to gue...

All the above. Yours might only need some tuning. clean its terminals, clean ground if it's 1-wire, clean its relay terminals & contacts, adjust it. That adjustment screw on it, self tapping or threaded& locknut, will change it quite a bit until there's no sound at all at either end of its r...

I'd think that big aluminum ridge around the seat would do more then a bit, but I've got 0 flowbench experience and can only go by what looks aerodynamically pretty to my eye.
Thanks.

Water pump failure is extremely rare, I've never seen one but I've heard of Many water pumps being replaced for reasons only slightly related to it. Not that water pumps don't fail, they leak & their bearing goes bad, but failing to actually pump is almost unheard of, a few have broken impellers...

Thanks, looks nice & clean,
Looking at those 3 valves through the intake is always a neat thrill!
Were the other cyls clean & dry & smegma free?
Is there going to be any more finishing/grinding the comb chamber, all the area after the 45, on the 60 to 90 and the ridge around the seat?

Wow, that's a new one!
If the guide's top isn't normally submerged, extra seal or no seal shouldn't oil it up that much, besides it's only 1 exhaust & isn't going to affect the other or the chamber.
Burr on.
