Re: Parking brake lever and headlight question.
I'm guessing that you can't get the parking brake out of the car because the cable is attached ? The parking brake is attached to the two main cables at a divider which is attached to the single cable with the nut on that is inside the car. This single cable is quite short maybe 12" and to get...

Headlight question.
All the lights work; side markers, low beams, high beams the driver and passenger headlights popup fine, the problem I'm having is my passenger headlight wont go down? I tried plugging my passenger headlight motor into the drivers side and the motor works fine (the spindle rotates when turning on an...

Re: AE86 check engine light help
Good catch :) When a whole bunch of electrical stuff drops out at the same time, it is always a good move to check the fusible links. A bad connection there will have the same effect as a blown link. Cheers... jondee86 I hope this short thread helps others, I seen people with this same problem. suc...

Re: AE86 check engine light help
Check the 15A STOP fuse in the #1 JB (driver's side kick panel). If that is good, check all the fusible links on the battery positive have 12V on the downstream side. Cheers... jondee86 I found the problem it was the wire that goes to the 60A fuse on the battery positive; the wire was lose from con...

AE86 check engine light help
So for the last 6 months or so my car has been running fine no issues, aside from my passenger headlight no going down. Anyway last night I drove home from work parked my car with the headlights off but in the up/open position like I normally do. This morning when I went to start my car it just cran...

Re: Headlights acting weird
Sometimes the wiring or contacts in a plug are corroded and simply replugging them cleans them enough to work, at least for a while. You can check out the turn signal switch and headlight switch by unplugging them and using the multimeter although you'll need a wiring diagram to get the pinouts rig...

Re: Headlights acting weird
So new development with the headlight problem. I went out to check the lights since its not raining; again headlights both low and high beams were not coming on neither was the highbeam indicator on the dash. So I got my multimeter: - unplugged the drivers side headlight to check if it was getting p...

Headlights acting weird
Hi all, I have this problem and after searching many forums and this one I realize I pretty much have the opposite of the 'normal' headlight problem. The normal problem I read about headlights Is they lights go on but the headlights don't pop up My problem: When turning on my headlights, position 1,...

Re: ANOTHER "Car Not Starting" Thread...
Thanks for all the tips and advice guys. I went ahead and bought a new battery earlier today. Even though my old one passed the O'Reilly test TWICE. After installing the new one, car started up just fine. I feel pretty stupid since it was such a simple fix instead of the super complex problem I mad...

Re: TAIL fuse not getting power?
Probably a loose wire or a loose ground screw or a bad light switch (they come apart internally as they age) and the car shaking and vibrating when it is running is enough to make that come and go. Try starting it up and then tapping on the light switch for a while, see if the tapping sometimes tur...

Re: TAIL fuse not getting power?
So I went out to the car and I tried the lights and same problem no dash or parking lights, so I decided to start the car and let it run for a while as I go over the wiring diagram because my car was sitting for a few days; anyway when I turned it on I tried turning my lights on and my dash and park...

Re: TAIL fuse not getting power?
A melty fuse indicates that something has been pulling a little too much power for a long time. Often it means the fuse socket is a little corroded, or the main harness plug is corroded where it goes into the bottom of the fuse box under the hood. You can unbolt the fuse box and turn it over to acc...

TAIL fuse not getting power?
So the other night I noticed my dash and parking lights werent going on when I turned my headlight switch to the first position, checked all my fuses and noticed the 15A TAIL fuse was slightly melted so I changed the fuse and changed the 10A RH fuse and still no dash and no parking lights. So I trie...
