Re: cv axle shaft
In my opinion I've always found it more convenient to have the flange style axles than the solid ones, way easier to replace without having to take the axle out and lose fluid during the process with solid axles.

Re: cv axle shaft
All of the fx16 that I've ever came across had flange type axles with 6 total bolt holes on both sides of the axles. The non-flange type are something that was just stuck into there from another corolla chassis, something from the ae92 chassis and is slightly longer, at least for the driver side axl...

Re: WTB: 7A-FE 212mm Flywheel
I don't know who that white one belongs too. How much were you looking to sell the flywheel for? Don't recall any of the 4a-f coming with a 212mm flywheel but I guess anythings possible. Would have to line my clutch disk up to it to confirm unless you can confirm by measuring the matting surface is ...

I came across that but not really looking into a lightweight flywheel right now. Have a new 212mm oe clutch kit sitting around that I want to use for the time being since my 200mm performance clutch is going out. I'm located in Fresno California.

Re: 1987 Corolla FX16 GTS Help
There is no CARB exempt intake for these cars. You will have to replace it with the original intake arm, air box and filter. If you can't get a hold of the original one you can try to get one from a different year corolla and makeshift it to fit, that would work too. It just has to look factory.

Re: AE92 with Civic radiator -- anyone done this?
Never really seen it done but have heard of it, but just don't get ahead of yourself and start chopping away at brackets and welding new ones because when you get to the 4ag swap your probably gona be switching back to a 4a radiator due to the water outlet coming from the passenger side around the f...

Re: Wanted To Buy; AE92 Smallport Misc Parts
Are you looking for spare parts for the Cali version or Fed version of the smallport, there is a difference in the two versions. For example the Cali version uses a secondary o2 sensor and EGR temp sensor, the Fed doesn't and the harness won't have connectors for it. So if running the Cali ECU on Fe...

Re: Got an 87' GTS FX-16 that needs an engine, what will fit
What's wrong with your engine that you have in there now, have you thought about a rebuild? As long as it's not a 90-91 4age smallport any of the older large port should be a direct drop right in and everything should hook right up, unless your unlucky and you get the 6 bolt crank 4ag then you will ...

Re: aw11 supercharged alternator
The supercharger engine uses a different alternator due to it being relocated on the opposite side of the engine, the part number from pepboys for the supercharged engine is 14453 and it will be a special order part if they can still get a hold on one. Hope this helps.

Why not just have the c160 rebuilt, it shifts a lot crispier than the c60 and doesn't have the reverse gate issues.

Re: check engine light won't reset - no bad codes
I've had an issue like this before where my CEL stayed on constantly and there was no DTC present. It turned out to be a electrical problem in the interior harness leading to the ECU, you might not be having the same electrical problem or an electrical problem at all but for my issue it turned out t...

BP distributor will fit and work, the starter will work, BP injectors will work as long as your using the SP fuel fail because the spacing of the rails are different.

Re: 4age engine swap 88 to 90-91
The engine harness and interior harness are different, especially at some of the connectors such as dizzy and ecu, you will need the harnesses if your planning on doing a clean swap over to the 90-91 smallport 4ag.

Re: FX16 transmission/axle questions...
I would say try to get a good spare tranny on the side or save up to get another tranny because these tranny will start to give you issue if you arn't already having them such as 2nd and 3rd gear grinding and 5th gear popping out.

Re: FX16 transmission/axle questions...
Pulling issue could be a result of many different problems happening to the vehicle such as tire separation, alighnment issues, worn suspension parts, brakes if pulling when braking. The only bearing between the transmission and cv axle is the internal differential bearing. Try flip flopping both fr...

Re: FX16 transmission/axle questions...
The FX axles are a 2 piece axle for both driver and passenger side, you have the axle shaft assymbly and then you have the axle stub (6 stud tulip). If your passenger side doesn't have the removable stub then someone might have changes it out for a newer year corolla cv axle which are one piece assy...

Re: Frankenstein 4A-GE smallport questions
Any AFM from the 88 ae92 and up should work correctly, the only thing is that the smallport uses a knock sensor and 4 wire o2 sensor. If the 4a block that you are using has a place for the knock sensor then you are good. I think at one time I used the blue top AFM and the engine ran fine, give it a ...

Re: C56 vs C160
C160 ftw..no doubt about it, ask me how I know...shorter gearing will give it much faster acceleration out the hole and will leave the c56 in the dust in the 1/4 mile...c56 will only out top speed the c160 in mph in the long run.
