Hi built, the first thing is to check, ( swap the AFM ),with a known good one. the AFM acts just like a carb. so misfires that are not related to plugs, wires, and such are usually there. there can be a dead spot or more in it. this will also make it hard to start. there should be an electrical load...

jack up the front so the radiator cap is higher than the rest of the coolant/heater hoses. remove the rad cap. run the engine and top off the radiator little at a time as it warms up. re-install the rad cap and make sure the coolant bottle is filled to proper level. shut engine off. that should get ...

sounds like they used a time-sert. much like a helicoil but better.
they probably didn't put loc-tite on the threads to the cyl head.
just bring they spark plug to a good auto parts store and ask for a time-sert kit.
