Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Best place to test for fuel flow/pressure is at the outlet hose from the fuel pressure regulator. Take the return hose off and fit a spare piece of hose so that you can run the open end into a clear container. Turn the ignition ON and force the pump to run by jumping the fuel pump test plug or openi...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Maybe we are both misunderstanding each other. Such things are possible :) And of course, you are correct in saying that if 12V is supplied to a component, that 12V must eventually be grounded to complete the circuit and activate the component. However, there are a couple of misconceptions that com...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

The resistor pack does not need to be grounded. It is just 12V in and 12V out and there is no reason for grounding. OK, so I was shooting from the lip there. When the circuit is not active it is 12V in and 12V out, but when it is active it is more like 12V in and 3V out due to voltage drop across t...

The resistor pack does not need to be grounded. It is just 12V in and 12V out and there is no reason for grounding. https://i.imgur.com/xJWoyLP.jpg As the injectors are batch fired and not sequential, it really does not matter how they are paired up. But the circuit is designed to have two injectors...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

The fuel injector pulse is only a few milliseconds, so the noid light will only show a very brief flicker of light while cranking. After a extended period of cranking your plugs should be wet with fuel when you check them. If they are wet swap them for a fresh dry set or dry them out over a gas burn...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

However, 3 of my injectors do earth back to pin10 and the other pin20 but they are wired in pairs on the power from the resister pack. Had a think about this and it is not ideal. The one injector will be getting a bit more current, and the three will be getting a bit less. Doubt if it is enough to ...

Good question :) My guess and I am happy to be corrected, is that the hose is carrying the MAP sensor signal. I have attached a couple of pics to explain... https://i.imgur.com/nUH0GPx.jpg On the AE111 the MAP signal is obtained via the grooves machined into the face of the intake manifold. Each int...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

It is not that unusual for some wires to be missing if the same ECU is used for different versions of the of a vehicle. Since E1, E01 and E02 are all shown as running to the same ground point, it might be that E1 has been joined to one of the other grounds inside the ECU. If the engine has run with ...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

E1 would normally be the third brown wire on the ring connecter. The 88 and 89 AW11
wiring diagrams show that the pin should be in the same plug as the E01 and E02 pins.

Yes... if the E01 and E02 pins are not connected to ground the ECU cannot
ground the injectors to fire them and you get no fuel.

Re: old ignition set up from japan!

Both the Nodiz (= no dizzy) and Megajolt eliminate the distributor entirely, but need a 36-1 or 60-2 crank trigger wheel to be installed. Another possibility is Microsquirt (a member of the Megasquirt family) that can use the cam position and rpm triggers that are in the base of your distributor to ...

After you have been driving for a while and stop the car, pop the hood and
see if any of the relays in the under hood fuse box are REALLY hot. If you find
one that burns your hand, replace that one.

If the igniter has a metal case and there is no separate ground wire, then
it will ground thru the case and must be bolted down.

Re: 4AGZE SC Runs Rough at WOT

Before this all went south my idle was very high--2000rpm plus. I couldn't get it to consistently stay at a normal speed. You should check your ignition timing. High idle is one sign that the ignition is too far advanced. Engine kicking back when cranking is another sign. If the timing is good then...

Re: poltergeists in my car, HALP!

You could check to see that the flapper thing inside the AFM moves freely, and is not jammed with crud or dragging on the side walls. How far the flapper opens tells the ECU how much fuel to inject. If the flapper is not free to move, air will squeeze past but you will run lean. That would tie with ...

Re: 4AGZE SC Runs Rough at WOT

The noise filter is a capacitor (condenser) with two wires and a metal clip. The clip is purely a way to clamp the noise filter under the head of any convenient bolt, and it is not part of the electrical circuit. One lead connects to the 12V feed to the ignition system, and the other wire connects t...

On the USDM GTS the tacho gets its signal from the black wire on the igniter. The SR5 will get a signal direct from the coil negative. The black wire finds its way to the big square(ish) plug on the firewall behind the engine, and from there to the OEM tacho. According to this diagram... http://www....

Re: 4agze swap wiring woes!

Just a few random comments... - on the GZE as I understand it, the clutch is disengaged when out of boost. So during cranking the s/c should not be turning. - there is a bypass valve with a vacuum servo that opens at light load to allow air to bypass the s/c. This should be open when cranking. - it ...

1. The ECU grounds are the three (+/-) brown wires attached to a single brass ring connector. These must be bolted down and the usual place is on top of the intake manifold towards the rear of the engine. 2. ECU sensors are supplied with 5V by the ECU and the sensor ground wires must be connected to...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

A ground wire (with a connector) that runs from the engine hook bolt to a chassis bolt sounds legit. If it has a ring terminal on each end it will be factory. But there is no reason for the resistor pack to have a ground wire, so I don't know why that would be there ? At this stage I wouldn't be too...

Does the head to chassis earth, via the electrical connector actually do anything? Not sure which ground wire you are referring to, but if the factory put a ground wire from the head to the chassis, it was done for a good reason. Ground wires are provided to ensure that there is a low resistance re...
