Re: Can a turbo work with a carburetor engine

Just wondering if this kind of project might be easier to set up with a throttlebody (all ports plugged) and single port injection after the throttle plate ? Add a Megasquirt, EFI fuel pump and manifold referenced FPR and you are just about there :) Then all your tuning can be done with a laptop... ...

Re: Do sticky tires rock chip our cars?

Yeah... if the tread width on the Hoosiers is no more than the RE71r and you are using the same wheels, then you should be OK. The trajectory of a chip thrown by the tire will be more or less a straight line. So you can get an idea of where the chip will go by using a straightedge (yardstick or simi...

Not my specialty subject but I'll throw in what I know :) If you have the DLI GZE and want to run it using the factory coilpacks you will also need the AE101 ECU and AE101 igniter. Re: Fuel Pump replacement for 4AGZE

I ran 15psi on a 4AGE with GZE injectors and the stock AE86 GTS fuel pump. Never had a fuel supply problem. Used the GZE factory FPR but did have an aftermarket ECU so I could tune the fuel. The factory ECU can probably stretch to accommodate a couple of extra psi over stock. But in saying that, boo...

Do both of the small coolant hoses connected to the AAV get hot (like as hot as the top
radiator hose) when the engine is up to temperature ? If only one gets warm and the other
one stays cool, there is a blockage that needs to be cleared.

Re: Newb question on how to guide for ITBs on JDM 4AG Bluetop w/ MAP

Yes, I did the Tomei Poncams to just drop in since I didn’t want to do super aggressive cams... Looking at the graphs for the PON cams they seem to be quite similar to some 261deg / 8.27mm lift cams that I ran for a while some years back. The TVIS engine idled and ran just like stock on the factory...

Will there be any potential engine damage for driving around with a vehicle that is not properly tuned (not for very long), but am assuming at least 100-200 miles before the ITB kit and the standalone ECU is installed. If you want to do that for engine break-in purposes, I would recommend that you ...

I'd consider hitting him (or your head guy if you already have one) up about cam choices as well - might be a better match for the desired powerband/port work, especially with a standalone - since the poncams are meant for max gains on a stock ecu car. I added Coil on Plugs (1NZ) conversion kit, fuel injectors, Link ECU + the full loom, and the fuel pressure regulator. Well you can still make a tidy installation using less expensive components. If you leave the injectors in the head you can re-use the factory injectors, fuel rail and fuel pressur...

Just checking that you are doing the currency conversion right...
NZ$5000 = US$3150 or thereabouts. And if Barry's (MRP) price includes GST
to can take that off anything exported from NZ.

This is a tricky one :? And because the problem only exists for a second or so when starting, not easy to diagnose. OK... we need to figure a way to get the fuel pump to run for a couple of seconds before you try and start the engine. If shorting the FP test plug didn't work ( and it should have) there is another way. You need to take the airfilter off your AFM (Air Flow Meter) and while the key is ON, push the f...
