Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

A ground wire (with a connector) that runs from the engine hook bolt to a chassis bolt sounds legit. If it has a ring terminal on each end it will be factory. But there is no reason for the resistor pack to have a ground wire, so I don't know why that would be there ? At this stage I wouldn't be too...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Does the head to chassis earth, via the electrical connector actually do anything? Not sure which ground wire you are referring to, but if the factory put a ground wire from the head to the chassis, it was done for a good reason. Ground wires are provided to ensure that there is a low resistance re...

This is a very familiar story :) You are not the first one to discover that installing an aftermarket ECU in an AE86 can become your worst nightmare !!! I went down this road myself a few years ago (ITB's and ECU) and know the feeling when you are at the "crank but no start" stage. There i...

MSD puts out a 12V square wave tacho signal and you just need to convert that to a "voltage spike" to drive an old school tacho. Most DIY converters use an old relay coil and a transistor with some other bits and pieces set up like this... http://i68.tinypic.com/5kk9dl.jpg That is basicall...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Would the earth on the intake play a part if it wasn't clean? A lot of crusty crud or corrosion could cause a problem, but generally speaking, the action of bolting the ring terminal down would be sufficient to break through surface corrosion and make a decent contact. Clean is always better, but a...

Re: What's inside the 4AGE 16V TPS ??

The transition of the engine from "idling" to "running" is controlled by the idle (IDL) switch on a 4-wire TPS. The switching point is when the wipers just come into contact with and bridge the two stubby tracks you can see in the above pics. The switch should be closed when the ...

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Here is a pic of how the factory insulates a two into one splice with several turns of black tape. When the splice is unwrapped it should look like the lower image. The factory uses an uninsulated butt crimp that is not easy to find in shops. So if your crimp looks like the one in the pic it is prob...

The VSV should NOT hold pressure but should hold vacuum (either port). http://turbomr2.com/MR2/Reference/TVIS/TVIS-05.gif http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/Reference/TVIS/TVIS-06.gif Port E (actuator) is never actually sealed. Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

There is only one possible explanation for this seemingly impossible result. And that is (and you did mention this) that a strand of frayed wire had made a bridge between the 12V pin and the ECU (zero volts) pin. If this happened then you would indeed measure 12V on both pins. When you have refreshe...

VSV works like this.... https://i.imgur.com/A5s41iY.jpg When the VSV is not energised the valve moves to the left and port F is closed trapping vacuum in the vacuum tank. The actuator port E is connected to atmosphere thru the filter. The TVIS is open. When the VSV is energised by the ECU the valve ...

Re: Dirty dirty curse words. Water pump, and tvis woes.

From what I have seen the RWD pump has studs with nuts to hold the fan on and the FWD pump has threaded holes and small bolts. Check that all the vacuum hoses associated with the TVIS solenoid/servo/ reservoir can are good. A split or disconected hose will stop the TVIS operating. Cheers... jondee86

Re: 4AGZE Injectors Not Firing

Here is the basic wiring schematic for the AW11 4AGZE injectors... https://i.imgur.com/SHX6RKn.jpg As you can see, the injectors are wired in pairs, and it is impossible for only one injector to have 12V on the downstream side if they are wired correctly. If you have 12V downstream on only one injec...

If the AW11 COR is similar to the COR used in other Toyota cars from the same

connections are made thru the pins in the base of the relay.

Koni yellows are great too, however the basic shock design is getting a little old as they haven't been updated for our chassis / similar old chassis for decades. They do have good bump compliance, and the adjustments change the shocks as you would expect. Back in 1985 when the AE86 was in producti...
