I think he means sport DLX or SR5? I think DLX came with out front mud flaps, and was only offered in the early years. Not completely sure.

Even my carb'd sr5 was close to passing. Take a look at the inspection sheet and see what parts need to be replaced. Just because the car is knew to you, doesn't mean its new to the road. Btw, save money and get a pre-test.

rods, crankshaft? Probably some better bearings and piston rings. Which kinda mean you have to yank the engine. And rebuild it. A turbo conversion is much more noticeable then nitrous. The turbine and piping(and inter-cooler) all take a notable amount of room in the engine bay, and are very visible....

spray it with WD40? Worked on my door locks....

So this STAR business really is aimed at the smog check business. That's lame.

Thanks for clearing that up, it sound awful! I haven;t been told to go to a star smog center, since I only have had pre-tests done. I am trying to look for a freindly smog shop. My carb'd 4AC does not want to pass the 15mph test(does the 25 mph fine though)

Before I get the DOHC swap psots, I would like to state that the car does have a new cat, O2, Rebuilt carb and passes all of the tests except for the 15mph test. 25 mph is cool, it has all of its equipment in place.
