20v AFM adjustment !help!

Postby AlexFourTwenty » Tue Dec 19, 2017 9:48 pm

So it’s the 20v afm. Previous owner seemed to have messed with it so I want to see if I could adjust it back to spec. I know there an idle air bypass screw and then the clock wheel inside the afm clockwise tightens the spring on the flapper for leaning and counter clockwise loosens spring for richening. But I feel like I’ll never get it back to spec. There’s like 250 different a/f mixture possibilities. This is like hitting the lotto.

Ya supposed to move the toothed wheel under the spring clip...

This guy seems to have got his clock and anti-clock mixed up, but you can
see the spring clip. Lift the clip out and turn the wheel left or right one click
at a time and work it out from there. If you messed with the wiper screw try
and put it back where it was. Make a reference mark somewhere so you know
how many clicks you have gone. That way you can find your way home if it
keeps getting worse instead of better :)

PS: This is not a Toyota AFM but they all work more or less the same.
