I acquired a Zenki Coupe GT-S that i pulled the engine from and was gonna use to GTS Swap my TE72, but decided to keep all 3 cars (Restored NA Kouki Hatch, TE72 Sedan, and Turbo my Zenki Coupe) So without further ado heres the pics from day 1:

Taking it home:

Long story short, the engine was "blown" and had 0 compression. Cams were installed incorrectly and dizzy was 180* off, but after i got everything timed right it fired right up perfectly. So on to pulling the engine i go:

Image

And then it was time to put the turbo powerplant into the coupe, and swap the wheels over to take it for a test and tune at Willow Springs: [Click below for video]

Unfortunately while drifting the car while having messed up timing, the engine detonated and blew my ringlands on the 4th cylinder, and cracked them on cylinder 1.

So... back to the drawing board it was.. time to pull the engine again -_-

Seeing how the old block was pretty much toast, i had to find a new powerplant. I was running a bored 3rib Bluetop block, making my setup a 4AGE-T. Well i talked it over with everyones favorite corolla driver, and was able to come up with a deal where he would build me a short block out of a 4AGZE that he had, effectively making me 4AGTE now ^_^

Pictures of the rebuilt engine by TAKA:
Specs are
4AGZE
Bored .020"
OEM .020 GZE Piston
Stock Con-Rods
ACL Race Bearings (Mains)
ACL Race Bearings (Rods)
Decked block for Metal Headgasket
8.7 Compression Ratio (estimated w/ .8mm TRD Gasket)

Now that I had my block it was time to get some goodies: [THANK YOU BATTLEGARAGE RS]
Image

Also, thanks to 86NTHEMIX for the sweet deal on a Manual Rack so I can clear my downpipe, since Power Racks are stupid and bulky!

When i had my old setup with the JUNK POS hks replica manifold i had to run a Tercel Booster, and a 2.25 Downpipe and it still had fitment issues. So i hit up the best person i could think of to build me a custom turbo manifold! YOSHIMITSUSPEED. Now with this manifold, i clear the stock booster, i can run a 3in downpipe, it will clear a manual rack, and it also clears the stock distributor. I dont have pics yet, but i dont want to reveal the design untill its mounted to my engine, just gotta say that his engineering and welds are top notch ****.

As of today 8-3-15 i have all the pieces to re assemble my build, but work is not letting me. Im hoping to have the engine on a stand Wednesday and start to put it all together. My goal was to finish before my bday in september but it doesnt look very possible.

8-9-15
So I found a sick deal on a new front end for this car! It's gonna slow my engine building but I couldn't pass it up!
Levin hood, Lights, Fogs, Side Markers, Grille, Mudflaps, Kouki Rear bumper with bent bracketry, and a Zenki lip(for my other car)

I always thought Levins were shorter and it's true!!

If anyone can help me install these without fenders id greatly appreciate it, i tried mocking them up but I'm not sure where to drill the holes.

Look at all that room for a big downpipe :o :o

As far as i can tell this will clear my stock booster and master setup. Its fairly close to the distributor so i may have to use a skinnier hose coupler adapter for my turbo outlet. I have yet to wrap my turbo manifold and a minor tune up (dizzy cap, rotor, plugs), and i want to paint my valve cover some sort of theme. I am also redoing all my rubber plumbing into steel braided line, and i think im ready to drop it in after that.

Take a few pictures of the turbo oil return you've put in the sump please.

Heres a few pics of my complete plumbing setup.

This is the oil Feed, to a T for my gauges, to the turbo feed, then you can see the dump coming out of the bottom of the turbo

More updates for you guys.

The engine is now in and fully mounted up. Heres a quick video... and some fitment pictures with a Tercel Booster. Fitment is super spot on, thanks Mr. Yoshi! Only issue is that i do have to space up my hood cause the turbo feed sits a little high.

Also finished piecing together the LEVIN front from a local bodykit guy, DMAX Replica took some massaging to fit, but its not bad looking for me not having headlight brackets and me having to mickey mouse some L Brackets.

Last but not least.. Color matched Steering wheel

I know alot of you guys dont approve of Ziptied Aero, and Knockoff kits, and Ebay steering wheels. But I decided to just have some fun this build, and go wild. because if youre too uptight about how your car is, and about having everything "Legit" name brand then youre worrying about the wrong stuff. Its all about driving your car, and having a blast, who cares if its ziptied together or has all OEM bolts! All corollas are sick corollas!.... and besides, i already have a clean JDM aero hatch i can baby while i abuse this.

180whp is pretty impressive, man.

Thought i would update this thread for the **** of it...

So again this car was Dyno'd at 181 RWHP on 10PSI of boost on a Dynojet rolling dyno. I believe it was 152 lb ft.
Was able to get some levin brackets off EPImporters on the cheap, and finished up the front end. I run a Fiberglass DMAX bumper on the track, and Plastic OEM kouki bumper with lip on the street. Also i found some RUNFREE skirts and they fit the car well. Just need Jblood valences to complete the look. Heres how it currently sits..

OEM aero, with skirts and foglights wired up. Took the wheels from the hatch also.

Fiberglass Bumper, SKirts, and a naked rear end..

Currently the car is sitting on jackstands..
Im switching the rear end from a Welded Zenki to a TRD 2way Kouki, swapping the T50 with a W55, and taking out the AJPS spacer to put in the DMAC offset spacer. Clutch is out at illegal garage getting resplined for W trans, and Rear end is at a diff shop getting Rebuilt, and the spacers are chillin on my table.

Both of your build logs are nice. I'm just starting up with my own SR5 to GTS conversion and I'll be checking back for your updates for sure!
