Parts?
Hi I just bought a 1985 AE86 hatchback with a 4A-GE and i want to know what kind of preformance parts work well with this engine as well where i can find them thanks a bunch
Re: Parts?
Your question is far too vague for us to give you a good answer. What do *you* want to do with the car? Figure out what your goals are first.
Also, since you just bought it I would suggest making sure everything is in working order before you start modding it.

Re: Parts?
I'd start with an engine rebuild. A fresh, fully stock engine makes the car plenty fun.

Re: Parts?
I can help you with the where.
http://matrixgarage.com/store
I can get a lot of stuff that isn't listed on my site as well.
As for the what and how I agree with Grant. You need to tell us what you are looking for. What are your goals, expectations and budget?
Are you looking for a DD with a little more pep, or are you looking for a screamer that makes 250 Peak HP at 10,000 RPM? Or do you want to throw a turbo on it for anywhere from modest fun gains to 600+ WHP?
Or maybe a swap would be better for your goals.

Re: Parts?
You still didn't answer my questions.
Do you just want me to tell you what parts to buy?
If so then just tell me your budget and I'll make something up.

I want to do a DD with a little pep like you said 250 hp 10,rpm or a little less but thats my plan nothing to serious though this is a project car that doesnt have a price range due to the length of time its gonna take its about a 3-4 year or less depending on what i can get done and money in that time frame

I'm having a hard time understanding your posts. Are you using a translation program or something?
In an AE86 or something similar 250hp isn't a little pep. It's pretty damned quick.
for an NA 4A it's also a fully built race engine that will need to be rebuilt every ten thousand miles or so if you drive it nice.
If you want 250 HP then boost or a swap are really the practical options.

Do this:

But if all you want to do is impress other people then you could just use a scaffold tube for an exhaust and bend the needle on your tachometer so that it starts at 3000rpm.

Re: Parts?
If you can get your driving skill to where you can get 90% of the capability out of the car with stock power, you'll find that it doesn't need a lot more. FYI "10k rpm" and "daily driver" are never used in the same sentence.

Isn't the lifetime between rebuilds of those engines measured in hours? I mean if you want to rebuild your DD every month.... more power to you.

And we don't use words like "sup" it up.... Lol...

Yes but they also spend most their lives between 6k and 12k RPM. If you pampered it the motor would last a good bit longer. Of course it would be silly to have a $20k 4A that you babied around all the time.
