S14 front suspension conversion?

Postby SR86RD » Thu May 09, 2013 7:00 am

has anyone done it? the whole deal including 5 lug conversion with brakes and everything.

yeah i could go with FC calipers but here in Dominican Republic its cheaper and easy to get S Chassis parts than AE86 stuff.

bump?

im looking into improving to bigger brakes and 5 lugs, so the FC conversion is kinda off the plane here right? and to think how much do 4 to 5 lug spacers/converters cost makes you wonder

So your going to swap a s14 front suspension in just for bigger brakes? I would definitely pass on that Idea. Sounds like a hack job more than anything. The front suspension on the AE86 is fine. If you want bigger brakes, go the FC route or save up and do it right with a big brake kit from T3..... The only real reason for swapping to bigger brakes is for brake fade. If you ran a better brake pad, you'd probably see the same results. The bigger brake will have more friction surface for stopping power but it is really only needed if your making more horsepower(the fast you go, the faster you need to stop).

thank you sir and yes actually im gonna be running around 250whp for drift and track, thats my concern on better and bigger brakes, also notice the fact that i mentioned the problem of getting AE86 parts in the Dominican Republic, i can get 240, s13, s14 parts like suspension way faster and cheaper than the ae86 ones.

thanks for your time.

Along with the above link, this is one of the thread I find is the most informative on the topic. S13 front as well.
