Redoing Wiring - Advise and Tips Welcome!!

Postby vashachiroku » Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:08 pm

I'm planning to redo all the wiring in the car this winter, minus the 20v BT wiring because I ordered that and it's already amazing!

I was wondering if anyone has done some wirin recently and can recommend good sites to order from? My father is doing the work he's old school and good at this, but doesn't do much online. I was hoping for any tips, etc. for those who have redone the wiring.

Also any advice on possible changing out fuse boxes for something more modern?

Look forward to hearing from the community!

Unless you have major issues with the current harness, I would not go down this rat hole. I spent almost 6 months making a "SIMPLE" harness, eliminating the all the RH to LH conversion wiring, and grounding relays. I would just repair [or replace] any single bad wire(s). You could possibly find a used harness, realizing that it too will be 30yrs old. Dave W

I decided to re-wire my entire car... I bought a 21 circuit harness from EZ wiring (http://www.ezwiring.com/store/viewitem.php?productid=2) and a 5 relay add-on block, and had Marc Panic re-wire the whole car.

Been working fine for 8 years, and 25k miles so far

Thanks I will start on this project this winter. The wiring is aging and there are too many little things popping up all the time. Fresh wiring will help ensure everything is working properly.

I'd say keep it stock or replace it with nicer used oem wiring harnesses
when it comes to trouble shooting in the future it makes life easier
