NEW STANCE XR1 COIL-OVERS (TRUE REAR TYPE)

Postby basilss » Tue Dec 20, 2016 3:03 am

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has any experience with this new coilover design from Stance? Here is the link on their website...

http://www.stance-usa.com/main/2016/03/stance-usa-new-product-introduction/

The photo is labelled "Super Sports for AE86" which I think is typo as I believe Super Sports are revisions of the the old (GR+) design, but I am not sure of this.

In their application list there are 3 variants of the XR1 offered, one of which is the True Rear Type as pictured in the link above.

Link to the application list is as follows:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QxYVQDXsEwvYL8iW9lxHjwDkTn0o4txbVxrxC-ya5oQ/pubhtml?gid=2124925993&single=true

This rear design is quite unique as it uses an inverted damper which is different from others that are available in the market. This XR1 lineup also includes options to upgrade to swift springs (front only) and add helper springs for the front which is pretty cool.

Not sure what the spring rate is for the Swift option and if different rates can be ordered. Also not sure if the damping characteristics are different for the XR1 line up compared to the Super Sports / GR+ dampers for the AE86.

If anyone has tried this new setup on their car, I would be interested to know how it performs.

Cheers,

Basil

The concern I have is that according that spreadsheet for XR1, their AE86 coilovers are no longer sold with inverted front or rear, as they've been advertised. Maybe email Stance and see what they have to say on that?

As far as reviews, I've heard awesome reviews of the latest with true type rear.

The inverted rear is a new thing I guess and they havent updated their spreedsheet. (I wondered the same a short time ago and came to this conclusion.)

Just sent back my original Stance XR that i purchased in 2013 with the inverted front shock for service. They were able to setup a custom valving for me with custom pistons of the new XR1 shocks on the fronts. They valved it to my cars specs and preferences from when i ran the original setup. I also was able to purchase these new rears only to replace the original setup that was separate shock and springs. Hoping to install it all soon and have some fun in 2017!!!!

I am quite interested. Let us now how these work when you get the chance to test them out! Do they not have oem rear coilovers and custom spring rates?
