3sge vs 20v
3sge vs 20v
he guys so I bought my 86 last week and she's a shell so I need to give her a hear but my question is what should I put a 20v or a 3sge my goal is to have 200hp... yeah I know you guys are going to flame me saying thats ridiculous amount of power, but in the future I want this to be a time attack and what I see in all ta 86s is 180hp, but I also want the stock interior sooo yeah. So what is easiest/cheapest ,to swap and build a 200hp 20v 4age or to swap a 3sge and leave it stock. Also a reason Im leaning towards the 3sge is it will be more reliable.

3sge beams blacktop has 210 hp already from the factory. To get 200 hp out of a 4age 20v blacktop you'll have to have serious money. Think it'd be cheaper to turbo a 4age 20v silvertop then instead of upgrading the na 20v blacktop

Re: 3sge vs 20v
If the only goal is 200 hp... 3SGE beams from an Altezza is the way to go, imo - 200+ hp stock (more reliable) and there are AE86 mount kits available. You'll have to deal with more issues getting all the systems set up in an AE86 compared to a 20v, but it will still probably cost less than one would need to invest reaching 200 hp on the 20v.

Re: 3sge vs 20v
imho... the key hear is the transmissions capability to hold up to 200hp - The beams comes with a trans capable of handling the power, any "A" based engines has limited options: the T50 - weak, a rare LEEN adapted 6 speed - Hen's teeth, or the need to customize some other option to make it all work - time/money/engineering.
