Hatch vs Coupe Brake Differences

Postby InfernoAE86 » Sun Oct 19, 2014 8:13 pm

Is there any difference between the two? A different part number pops up on rock auto, and therefore a different price (hatch cheaper by $10). A bit of googling doesn't reveal anything.
Does anyone have any insight?

there are no differences in the brakes between a GTS coupe and GTS hatchback. when looking on online catalogs, be sure that you aren't looking at SR5 brake parts or another model of Corolla.

Okay, thank you.
In addition to this, for anyone searching later, the front brakes are the same between GTS and SR5, hatch or coupe.

Make sure when checking online catalogs or going to the local parts store to ALWAYS* order parts for a coupe if you have a AE86. If you order hatchback parts they usually give you FWD parts.

*there are a few exceptions, but usually once you get to the coupe they will ask you if it is a 3 door (hatchback) or a 2 door.

Rock auto is usually cool about stuff like that. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has ran into this issue. Honestly I think the only thing you may be able to order from a parts store that are different between a hatch and a coupe are the rear shock thingies for the hatch.

rock auto is just going with what toyota says, and if you walk into any dealer and tell them you have a GTS hatch, they will tell you youre lying. their database has coupes as GTS only, and hatches as SR5 only. so like Glock mentioned, always go with the coupe option when ordering GTS parts. I went as far as to bring my GTS hatch to the dealer and they insisted i swapped VINs...theyre not on our level.
haha cali...i got one of your 86's and you're not getting it back.
