How to remove the rear hatch door window seal

Re: How to remove the rear hatch door window seal
From the outside of the car, work all the way around the perimeter of
the glass, loosening the seal from the adhesive/sealant that will be
sticking the edge of the seal to the frame. Then go inside and using a
putty knife or similar, start lifting the rubber up and over the steel lip.
Apply some gentle pressure from the inside while working around the
glass until the glass and rubber can be removed together.
Use some tape wrapped around the blade of the knife (or whatever tool
you use), to protect the paintwork while you are levering at the seal.

Re: How to remove the rear hatch door window seal
I think you mean the rear-glass-hatch seal, not the hatch to body seal.
I personally didn't do mine, but had a shop do it for 50 bucks labor.
They used a fishing line to separate the seal from the body and then popped the entire thing out from the hatch.
Given the cost of the glass, you might just want to shop this one out, even removing the rear hatch all together and taking it somewhere is more preferable to hunting down the glass in good shape.

Re: How to remove the rear hatch door window seal
I'm resurrecting this old thread because I was searching for some help on how to remove the hatch seal around the glass and only saw people saying take it to a professional or cut it out and destroy the seal. I decided to give it a go and found it super easy.
tools needed= 1. rope or extension cord
2. 12mm socket and ratchet
step one. remove hatch from car and set on grass or soft surface facing exterior side down
step two. push rope or extension cord under the rubber seal and keep working it under all the way around edge
step three. glass should be starting to come out on its own so just give it a little pressure down on glass and pull slightly on hatch
glass should fall onto grass and you can pick up hatch
