Hi guys does ae92s distributors will fit on ae86 4age blue top? Since ae92s are red tops and mine is blue top. Thanks!

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
The distributor will physically fit and bolt in to the head. Not sure on the wiring connectors, though.

What abou the one from mr2 aw11?
Re: 4age 16v Distributors
the one from the mr2/aw11 is exactly the same (considering it came off a 4agze), except the wiring, different connectors coming off the dizzy...you can re-wire it to make it work though.

is it an easy re-wiring? also the spark plug wires are the same right?
Found some info from the old forum, some said aw11s dizzy has the same wire connector as the ae86..here is the link http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=103149

You will want to be careful as the GE and GZE dizzies have different trigger wheel setups so one will not work with the other.
I am not sure about the internals of the SP dizzy.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
I now have everything to rebuild a dizzy except the inner seal which I am still trying to find the closest possible to OEM replacement.
Once I have that I will be offering a rebuild service with a warranty and will have some rebuilt here so you can get the new one before returning your core if you would rather.

Actually I asked my mechanic about the rebuild, he suggest try to get a new shaft or a new dizzy, because he has experience with it when the seal for the shaft went bad or old it become so tough will worn out the shaft so the oil leaking from the shaft between the seal. if I get it rebuilt maybe the problem still there..

so basically the aw11(no supercharger) will plug and play right? But I don't rally know where to get one of it, found an ae92s dizzy on amazon for $144 free shipping but I heard the aw11 one will be better...
Re: 4age 16v Distributors
yes, the aw11(non gze) distributor will fit on the 16v 4age.
Caps are not interchangeable. AW11 cap on AW11 distributor, AE86 cap on ae86 distributor
Added benefit to the aw11 dist. is the heat shield
http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=7297
here's a "100 percent new, not remanufactured" complete with cap, rotor for $111~(on backorder 2-4 weeks)
Amazon link
ae86 dist to the left | aw11 dist to the right

Yeah aw11s has the heat shields I tho mine just missing that heat shield so the ae86s they don't have the shield from factory?
Are you running the one you show me on the amazon link also? Are they good? since the OEM are so expensive like around $600, and that only for $120? Thanks!
Re: 4age 16v Distributors
The ae86 distributor base doesn't have the appropriate holes for the heat shield to be attached.
I'm experiencing the same thing with the leaks after my distributor was rebuilt less than a year ago.
I'll let you know in a few weeks. I bought it when I came across the link cause it's stupid cheap at that price.

You already installed it on your car? Does it come with warranty?
Re: 4age 16v Distributors
Meant to say that I bought it when I came across the link last night.
Because it's on backorder from Amazon, it wont ship out for another 2-4 weeks.
Amazon says it has a lifetime limited warranty but doesn't explain further.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
So received my distributor today.
Cap, rotor, heatshield. All new for $111(bought on Feb.19...Price has gone up a bit, $112~) If you're in the market for one, Amazon has only one left in stock
Internals are slightly different. Plugs are the same
Here are some other differences between the two. You'll notice that the shaft looks longer but it's the same length.
Both distributors are pointing to #1 position. What it doesn't have is the pin locking the gear in place and it also doesn't have the "nub" as a reference point to show you where the #1 position is. ***Correction edit: the gear itself does have a point of reference but it's of no use since it's off a bit***

Looks like the OEM one's shaft is thicker and stronger, did you install it yet? wondering how it works! thanks
Re: 4age 16v Distributors
Thanks for the update kiosk! You said there's no pin for the gear, and I noticed what looks like epoxy/glue/etc. where the gear meets the shaft in the last pic. Is that what's holding it on ? I can't imagine it's press-fit only.

yup
I'll install later this week, waiting on other parts

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
I've used a ae92's distributor. Caps differ in direction of plugs but timing points are the same. I swapped large port to large port I do not know about small/large though I would imagine they are the same in the 4age.
Worth a look, Autopartswarehouse.com is useful for old corolla parts stores and toyota no longer have listed. I was looking at dizzy oem rebuild kits and found a reasonable price on a bare dizz since I have all new cap/rotor etc.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
Hey guys. I recently got this AW11 MR2 distributer from a friend who sold his Corolla. I noticed that the plug was different than any of the 4age distributers and it does not match my Corolla's ignitor plug. The wires don't even matchup. I thought it might have been off of the 4agze MR2 but after searching the part number it said it was for the NA AW11. Can anyone help me identify it? Or give me a proper pin out so I may cut and rewire the plugs. Thanks.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
That's definitely an NA dizzy, not GZE.
Download the BGB here and it will have pinouts and everything else you could need to test the dizzy.
http://mr-2.info/
For anyone else that's interested I have everything needed to rebuild a dizzy and have also found an inner seal that should move the oil seal enough to sit on fresh metal. I just haven't had time to rebuild one of my spares to confirm everything works according to plan.
I do plan on doing one part different and that is not using the ghetto roll pin that most kits do. I plan on using a steel pin and flaring it like a proper rivet. This should be much more secure and have much less chance of slop or moving around than a roll pin.
I will also be offering an exchange program with rebuilt dizzies as soon as I get it all together.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
The bore that the seal fits in is taller than the seal. This means that you can move it a little to ride on a fresh section of the shaft.
For anyone interested in doing their own rebuild.
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=10895
I will rebuild it as well but it may take a little while for me to get to it right now.
I am very interested in getting my hands on some extra distributors so I can have them ready to send out on an exchange program.
I also need 20v dizzys to make a kit. I don't really want to take the one apart on my motor till I know what to expect in there lol.

Re: 4age 16v Distributors
Just to update since its been a while.
Distributor I bought off amazon is still working. No Leaks.
Biennial smog was coming up and had a lingering check engine light at idle, Code 6 (No RPM Signal). Was frustrated at trying to find out what it was for what seemed like a year.
Ended up replacing the electronic internals from my OEM distributor in to the one I purchased off Amazon. Passed smog with flying colors and no more check engine light.

Thats pretty awesome. I actually ended up doing the same with an Autozone dizzy. They had sloppily soldered on new wiring and connectors to old used sensors.
