sr5 custom fuel system

Postby alavelle12 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 4:53 pm

Alright guys,
So I am swapping a 20v into my sr5 and have run into a little issue with getting fuel to my motor. My main question is, can i use my stock fuel pickup in the tank? I know I need to use bigger lines and everything to get the amount i want to the motor, and i'm planning on using 3/8 in. and -6an lines from the tank and in the bay, coupled with a walbro 255 pump. Will the stock pickup restrict the fuel too much, or will it be ok?

Thank you,
Alec

It's not like the 20V eats twice as much fuel as the SR5 and with about 40psi pushing through it compared to being sucked from the tank at 4psi, I think it has more then enough capacity. No one else will.

The 255 has been known to overwhelm the stock FPR. It's also way more than you need. I would get something smaller and quieter.

255 is huge. I don't even run 255 on F20C swaps.

Dude, run like a fuel surge tank setup. SR5 tank to surge tank to motor. With a SR5 tank you'll get fuel starvation under hard cornering anyway. Might as well turn lemons into lemonade.

So what fuel pump would you guys advise to get? and I want to do a surge setup, but I also need to keep it pretty cheap to stay in my budget. Anyone have any good setups I can base mine off of?

Lol you "want to stay in your budget"!?!? You bought the wrong car, bro. Research what a surge tank does, you don't need a big crazy pump from the fuel tank to the surge tank, then you need the right pump inside the surge tank for the engine. It's my understanding (correct me) the surge tank acts like a baby fuel tank that is designed to always have a good fuel level and keep even delivery to the pump pickup.

I understand how a surge tank system works, I'm asking specifically what surge tank and fuel pumps people use. And I'm coming to know what you mean about the budget lol. I'm passed mine, I just meant it as I don't have tons of money to throw at it Is all.
