Nice man, its good to see another 3tc swapped AE.
I'm very interested in what your doing with that rear end. What kind of mods are you doing to it to make it fit?
I wish I could find a spare block around here.

hey man

I am shortening the rear end to fit the hachi mount points. I will then send the axles to moser to get them shortened to fit the new shortened rear end. I am leaving the 5X114.3 bolt pattern and also the rear brakes. I will be installing the locker so that I can have a posi rear as well. I will post pics as soon as i have updates..

Hi Josh,

How are you going about shortening the rear? I'm doing the same thing to an 8.8. Thankfully my buddy let me borrow his GTS rear, so I'll be making my jig sometime this week.
I'm going with a TruTrac LS. Lookin forward to those pics.

Nice, what parts did you get for the head? Did you go oversized? What turbo did you go with?

Sorry for all the questions
Thanks
Sam

Hey my Fabricator and I will remove the axles and shorten the rear end and then remove the axles and send them to Moser to get shortened etc.

Head will be getting these parts nothing oversized just more beefy

Turbo is a Precision 6262

It's really cool seeing a 3TC build in an AE86 :)

I could've sworn I read somewhere that the best "3TC" is actually a 3TC bottom end with a 2TC head? Not 100% sure on that, just something I think I stumbled upon.

Keep it up :)

The heads are identical minus the big ports on the 2TC

With a head port on a 3TC head you are good to go and it will have better performance.

2T-C 85 70 88 at 6,000 rpm 91 at 3,800 rpm 8.5 1970–1979 emission controls (EGR)

The larger 1,588 cc 2T was produced from 1970 through 1984. Cylinder bore is 85 mm and stroke is 70 mm.

3T-C 85 78 115 at 6,000 rpm 109 at 4,800 rpm 8.4 1978–1985 emission controls (EGR)

The 3T displaces 1,770 cc and was produced from 1977 through 1985. Cylinder bore is 85 mm (3.35 in) and stroke is 78 mm (3.07 in).

Do you think that there is room under the hood of an AE86 for a four barrel weber, a bonnet and the piping to the turbo with a 3TC?

If you have a skilled fabricator then yes anything is possible.

For example here is a set up from my fabricator with a custom intake and blow through with custom exhaust manifold and turbo setup.

He used a prefabbed intake and cut it up and custom made one for blow through.

He could have made a custom one off but it would have taken longer and been more expensive...
