Nice!! There's a guy local to me looking for seats. I gave him some old ones I had laying around but he may be interested in yours. I'm in Fort Myers.

Oh right on man, I'm like an hour north of Tampa so probably about a 4 hour trip one way.

Still need to find a good fitting rail for these guys.. I bought Buddy Club rails but I guess they are only for side mounted seats.. So gotta find something else..

I saw these on Nengun:
https://www.nengun.com/bride/rail-ro-type
https://www.nengun.com/bride/rails-mo-type

But I've got no idea what model Brix these are.. 1.5? 1? 2?

Got my front coilover kit back from the anodizing shop.. Sorry T3 but 70s mustard and ketchup are just not my thing :P

Will post pics when everything is together.. Here's how they come tho..

Image

Waiting on the Swift 70's tang colored springs to get back from powder coating.. After that I should be ready to assemble my front coilovers FINALYYYYYYY.

I figured out that rail wise for the Bride seats I will need the "MO" type. These are about 150-160, but shipping is 100 USD at cheapest... So might be waiting on putting brides in . I have a guy that can weld factory brackets to the Brides but I'd rather not do it the ghetto way..

Found myself a nice beater 5spd Tacoma for 1000 bucks... Can't go wrong with that especially here in boondock FL

If you need any help on installing those coilovers conversions, let me know. I just finished installing them myself about a month ago.

No but seriously that'd be awesome lol. I think mostly just top mount nut torque would be all I need...

Still waiting on PC shop.. They have a lot of orders so just gonna work on the taco.. Gotta do master/slave clutch/fluid swap.

So I think I finally have everything I need to complete the front coilovers...

Here's T3's info sheet:
Image

*for some reason my image hosting site wants you to break necks lol.

So

Insert shocks
install "gasket" o-rings
Install threaded sleeve/adj. perch
Install gland nut*
Install coil springs
Install conical hat
Install camber plate
Install locking/nyloc nut.

*TRD gives you two gland nuts. One set with washers/shims and another without. At first they looked identical, then I realized the threads are larger on one set compared to the other. I believe it is for the KE guys, as there are different chassis that use the TRD blue short strokes. Pic:
Image

Jap instructionados: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KWCDDBbpNc

Also, I forgot to get spacers for the inside of the strut casing -_-.

You need spacers between the strut and the strut housing itself (it will rest on the bottom of the strut or shock w/e you want to call it.). I ended up not wanting to wait so I just did Seymour's recommended and stacked about 12 "fender" washers on top of each other. Worked great. It ended up being about 18 or 19mm for the size of the spacers.

Here's everything together... And some of my house LOL

Still need the torque on the Cusco nyloc nut if anyone knows..

The video doesn't give any torque specs for that nut. Better off uploading those cusco sheets!

In the meantime Seymour sent me a sweet generic torque sheet that I'll be adding to my toolbox references..

That will probably be the best $1000 you'll ever spend Lol.

Your coilovers look sick too btw!

per my wife's translation, the pillow nut (piro nut as she says it) is to be torqued down at 8 to 10kg/m. The four nuts to set the camber angle torque settings are 1.2 to 1.4 kg/m. Those are direct translations but they have kg/m to lb/ft calculators to give you the conversion rates. Let me know if you need anything else translated!

Awesome man, arigato to you both!

Yeah it says "piro" on the box too lol. It's cuz there is no "L" so they have to use "pi" and "ro" since r's have a slight L sound anyway. Japanese is fun lol.

Btw my custom PC caught fire today.. So updates will be slow :(

I must have converted it wrong.. I got 559 lb/in for 10kg/m.

Actually that seems right.. 10kg/m is way to high? Maybe 8-10kg/cm? Because I was looking at the Cusco RCA sheets and they have it per cm.

I will ask my wife to double check and let you know tonight. 559 in lbs converts to about 46 ft lbs which seems to be pretty good though. Will let you know.

Ah you are right! I forgot I have to convert again.

So it's been a lame week. My PC caught fire, then I lost my cell phone (with all my handy contacts), THEN the site crashed. Pretty much had no resources as I only have internet here, not where the car is stored.

Anyway 3 problems I've had when installing this custom coilover setup:

1.) It is almost impossible to torque down that pillow ball nut. It spins the rest of the shock with it, and they together free-spin inside the strut housing. There is a little "notch" on the end of the shock piston rod, where one could put a wrench or something, but it's so small it is almost impossible to get the clearance to do so. * I have read on another setup that actually using an impact will negate the free-spin factor and torque down the bolt. I however don't have an impact with a torque setting, so I'd be nervous to put so much maximum force on it.

2.) When the springs are not "wound up" to the point where they make the spring hat touch the bottom of the bearing plate, there is linear slack (you can slightly move the camber plate up and down). It seems this is due to space between the Cusco washer and the point at which the plate rests after the pillow nut is torqued down, leaves a gap. Now if the spring is wound up to the point where the high hat makes firm contact with the bottom of the Cusco plate, this gap disappears, however, it creates another problem...

3.) When the springs are wound up, and push the conical high hat onto the bottom of the camber plate, this eliminates the gap, however the plates will "bind" and have too much friction between the plate and the strut housing. This is not good as when you steer left or right, the plates will generate too much friction and reduce steering capability. In my case, it actually kept loosening/tightening one of my pillow nuts when steering left/right. That's bad.

So, I'm not sure about the gap, but as far as the friction goes I'll be receiving T3 needle bearing high hats. I should have ordered them in the first place anyway, but oh well. WHATS ANOTHER 2 WEEKS lol.

My Bride brackets came in the mail for the Driver's seat. Had to go to the hardware store to get extra stuff. No pics until I get new phone :(

That notch on the strut is meant for a wrench to counter torque the pillow nut. You can either tighten it before connecting it to the LCA or use an impact gun. I used an impact gun myself with no particular torque setting and it is fine as long as you dont go crazy with the impact. The T3 hats will fix your friction problem. Hurry up with the pictures! Lol.

LOL I know bro, I guess I could break out the digital camera and go old school :P

That clearance for a wrench is like only going to work if I get my Dremel wrench in there. But damn it's tensile strength with it's like 1mm thickness.

So I found my phone thank the Jesus.

Anyone ever happen to install rails onto old bride seats? The "MO" rails didn't come with all the necessary bolts (I'm assuming you recieved these when you bought the seats new), and it gives some dimensions on the sheet, but only lists them as Metric 8, and length at 25mm.. Nothing about pitch. It was slim pickings at Lowe's for M8 bolts, so all that had was 1.25 pitch... No go, too big. I'll try finding 1.00s, but will have to look around.

PICS SOON TELL T3 TO HURRY UP :P

I had to make my own brackets for my bride seats. You can reuse the stock seat brackets to do this.

http://club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1236

Shows you how, but it is a bit of work. Do you already have the buddy club brackets or something similar?

Need the thread pitch for the M8 bolts listed in the second (smallest) box on the bottom..

I know it's M8, and I know the length is 25mm, but I can't figure out the pitch. I've tried 1.25 and 1.00 and they are both really hard to get in the threads..
