ae86 to SR20 conversion [need help]

Postby caesar » Fri Nov 29, 2013 10:59 am

hey guys i had installed a redtop SR20det engline in my AE and the damn thing broke 2 rear diffs already! one was a welded diff (not so important) the other was a 10 bolt LSD diff. now i'm thinking about installing a silvia LSD (S13 preferably coz it's 4 bolts and cheaper) now has any1 done this before? i've been looking all over the internet for a writeup on this but i cant find anything usefull! plz help me out here guys. tell me what is the basic process and the necessary parts and whether the suspension will be straight bolt on or does it need some custom fabrication to make it fit?? I NEED HELP

Did you blow up the ring and pinion or just the OEM LSD unit? If you just blew up the OEM LSD, congrats, you can do that with a 16v 4AG. The OEM LSD is weak as sh!t, gotta upgrade to an aftermarket unit, especially with the SR power. Tomei is like the best bang for buck ratio.

no for the welded diff the whole axel twisted broke. for the LSD it broke the pinion the OEM LSD unit is still in place and running smooth. I took the whole thing apart tried to replace the old pinion but cant find the parts yet. so i'm gonna cut the story short and install the S13 diff with dual brake callipers for hydraulic e-brake. any thoughts on that??

sr20 engine, s13 diff, hydro ebrake.....wouldn't building a 240sx have been easier than making your corolla a 240sx?

would have been a hell of a lot easier. only i live in Jordan, and the stupid government doesn't allow imports so we tune the cars that are already inside the country :/
240's, GTRs and Silvias are not available over here. u can only do BMWs and Toyotas around here so we make the best out of a bad situation :/
