Speed Venture's 86 Challenge

Postby rondawg » Tue Feb 19, 2013 1:34 pm

I just saw this on Speedventures.com

http://svc.speedventures.com/fly.aspx?l ... series=436

7-9 events this year. I think the classifications really favors AE86s over the Toybaru twins. With all my mods, I'm in "stock class". I've been running with Speed Ventures over the last few years now and really like their organizers and most of the drivers attending the their events. I'm hoping I can make it to some of the events this year. The first one is this weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

What points did you add up to make it up into Stock Class? The way it reads to me, I could be running a 2jz off a standalone ecu in my AE86 with full suspension on slicks and still fall under the lowest "Vintage Class". I actually think that the Corollas would be the most difficult to compete with since Vintage basically classes a completely original corolla against the example above. The FT86 class designations (>14.9 pts) are much more specific. Now if you have an even crazier AE86 that's 15+ pts - you'd probably have it fairly easy against stock FT86s.

Maybe that's why they are asking for board members to better tailor the rules.

It's been about 7 years since I stopped going to their events. I doubt I can make this weekend's since I just found out about this yesterday when I got their email. Probably in March though at that new track that I've been wanting to check out anyway.

If memory serves me right, i was up around 15-16 points...and that was been generous on my end. I wish I could make it out to some of their events soon. Alex, bring what ever you got, be it 5ag, 7ag or 12ag...just remember to bring your computer and cable...
