Installed these last night using;
Morimoto 3five ballasts; https://www.theretrofitsource.com/produ ... s_id=21745
Morimoto XB35 4300K D2S bulbs; http://www.theretrofitsource.com/produc ... s_id=40562
Bi-Xenon Motocontrol; https://www.theretrofitsource.com/produ ... s_id=14027
My previous experience with retrofits was using all OEM, Hella Gen3 ballasts, Osram bulbs, and TSX projectors in my Prelude. The fit and finish on these is very nice they appear to be well built. They were also well sealed. BakaBaka warned me that there are some tabs on the back of the housing that may need to be trimmed. I did not have to do this, but this is probably due to the length of the mounting screws for my headlights. The cutoff on these morimotos is nice and sharp and the high beams come on instantly and go pretty high. The only thing I notice that may be different than the OEM projectors would be a slightly uneven light near the outer edge of the beam on the far left for the left headlight or far right for the right headlight. Where the two projectors cross over it eliminates this.
I don't have any 55w or the newer Osram SVS bulbs to find out how the light disbursement changes with a bit more power or lumens. For the price I've got no complaints. They are close enough to an OEM setup and very affordable. The shrouds BakaBaka used also make the headlights appear like they could be some kind of OEM headlight from a newer vehicle. I'm extremely pleased with the upgrade.
I'll try to take some pictures in the evening of the low, high beams, the cutoffs, and how they look on the car.

Thank you for your honest review! I'm please that my retrofits met your expectations, if more guys like SolidSTI could chime in on the sets they bought.. that'll be great. The uneven light on the outer edges are produced due to the combination of the projector lens and reflector bowl. This is a design limitation that's known with MiniD2S projectors. Can't wait for some of your action shots!

Baka - joined just to post in this thread. I am a mkiii supra owner, and youre pictures and review are the best ive seen to help me decide on where to go with my headlight upgrade. One question - do the Morimoto d2s mini's fit the 7x6 housing without cutting? I ask because i know the have a section that "adapts" them to the h4 bulb fittings. I was trying to avoid cutting any housings.
Also, have any black sets available? I may just purchase yours since you apparently do amazing work. PM me some pricing details, im very interested.

Tried to PM you but seems like C4AG's PM system is still wacky (my msg to you has been stuck in my outbox for the past day or so)
Anyways.. I was gonna' tell you: Yes, the MiniD2S fits the H6054 housings with the adapter rings/plates that comes with the projector. However, the alignment is way off since it was never meant for H6054 applications. If you try it out yourself, you'll notice the projector is rotated (not perfectly aligned on the horizontal plane) with the adapter plate that comes with it. The only other way I can think of to make it fit without cutting is to fab up your own adapter rings.. but even then.. the projector lens will hit the housing lens. So yea, there isn't any other way other than hacking the housing.
I don't have any of my retrofits in black. I usually make a few batches in chrome. If you want it in black, I can have them paint in gloss or matte black which will cost extra due to the additional labor involved.

Yeah, it's taken me this long to find a mobile browser that actually loads this website when I'm logged in. I can live with a Chrome set, but it'd fit my car much better blacked out. Feel free to email me so we can discuss this, I did receive your message but it said it was deleted and would not let me read it.

Re: 7x6/H6054 Bi-Xenon HID D2S Projector Headlamp Retrofits
Any further interest regarding these retrofits from the community? Haven't had much time to make batches anymore so I only retrofit per request now.

(Yea, C4AG's PM system has been wacky since forever)
Turn-around is 4-6 days per set. Please keep in mind the price of $395 is no longer correct. The Pilot housings I have originally used for these retrofits are proving harder to obtain. I am now using Nokya H6054 conversion lamps. They are aluminum body w/ glass lens. I know I've said glass lens distorts cutoff in the past but that was before I forked up over a $100 bucks for a set of Nokya's just to hack n' slash it (test fitment & quality). The glass lens are amazingly manufactured and offers optimal clarity. When I have the time, I will take output/cutoff shots of a MiniH1 retrofit that I am currently working on.
Price starts at $525.00 + free shipping included via USPS Priority. Each set will consist of Morimoto or Texenon MiniD2S projectors with the option of E46 or E55 shrouds. (Bulbs & ballast not included)
I know the price may seem a bit far-fetched as compared to my previous price but please keep in mind these are aluminum housings which is very difficult to work with and time consuming (compared to the plastic Pilot housing). I destroy at least 1 Dremel cutting bit, multiple sanding bands and diamond discs on each housing alone (in a nutshell: it's very labor & material intensive). I'm looking for places that offers CNC services if the prices are lower than the material cost I go through. If anyone offers CNC, let me know as that can help lower the price.
Retros with Pilot lamps are available as long as I'm still able to obtain them or if you can provide me a set to use and the price of it will remain the same as before. ($395 - shipped)

Re: 7x6/H6054 Bi-Xenon HID D2S Projector Headlamp Retrofits
Thread updated with new price and new images of retrofits using Nokya H6054 housings.
Re: 7x6/H6054 Bi-Xenon HID D2S Projector Headlamp Retrofits
Would anyone be interested in a set of retros using TRS' new MiniD2S 3.0s with the square lens design? I think it would look sick inside a 7x6 housing (square lens on rectangle housing). I'm interested in making a set for prototyping but would need someone willing to pay for it and test it out. To clarify, you're not paying to have it tested. You're paying for the retros at a heavily discounted price and getting to keep them but I will need frequent updates on how its performing and doing. Preferably, I'm looking for someone who's going put this in their AE86 that's being daily driven.
The retros in question are these and they are awesome in terms of output performance and everything else.
The prototype would be $375 shipped using Nokya lamps or $325 using Pilot lamps - shipped.

Re: 7x6/H6054 Bi-Xenon HID D2S Projector Headlamp Retrofits
I've bought new tools! Now it's less of a bitch to modify the Nokya aluminum housings! Price updated to make it more "affordable". Woot!
