ae86 sr5 4age carb swap alternator help!

Postby djugly » Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:04 pm

As the title states im in the process of swapping in a carb'd 4age 16v into my sr5 ae86 and im unsure what to do about alternators my 4age has one on already. Should i just extend the harness over to the passenger side where the 4age has the alternator mounted? Or is there another route to mounting the alternator on the passenger side of the 4age?

Yes you just extend the wires, that's what I did.

Or find you a GZE alt bracket and idler pulley to keep the alternator on the driver side.

You MIGHT even be able to adapt the 4AFE alt bracket to work. I repeat - MIGHT. The alternator is adjustable on the 4AFE and is its own tensioner like it is on the AGE.
