Final gear 4.7

Postby speedmaster » Mon Mar 18, 2013 8:09 pm

Currently im using a blacktop gearbox with 4.312 final gear. Suppose i change to 4.7 , will i have a lot of wheel spin on my first gear?

For quarter mile drag, advisable to change?

yeah the shorter FD will probably have wheelspin issues unless you lock it down with a monster set of slicks. 60ft time will be affected but shorter FD will help acceleration all the way through the rest of the gears. will probably still be a quicker ET even with slower 60ft.
just my guess.
i am more into autox/drift and dont know beans about drag, but i dont think its stupid.

More shifting = slower times. I'd bet you have one less shift with a 4.3 rearend compared to a 4.7.
