Oil pressure gauge help

I have an 1987 mr2 aw11 with a working oil pressure sender and wire going from the oil pressure sender. The wire is connected to nothing. It was cliped and left hanging by the PO. Don't ask me why. I think its because a 4age bigport from a corolla was swapped, along with the harness from that car, which does not have an oil pressure gauge?
My ECU is an AW11 ECU. I wan't to reconnect my oil pressure sender and have a working oil pressure gauge. I was looking at the ecu pinout diagrams but there are no pins for the oil pressure gauge. My aw11 is a european car, originally from Germany and has an AFM. I have never done this before so I might say or ask something idiotic.
My idea is to take the wire from the oil pressure gauge, splice and solder it onto a wire on the harness that goes to the oil pressure gauge pin on the ECU. I intend to splice and solder it to the wire just above the ecu connector. This make any sense? Can I do it like this?
