I am currently in the process of doing a turbo build and wanted to know which of the two piggy back ecu was most feasible.
The car will be a daily driver (FWD) and will see the occasional track visit (Drag Race and circuit).
The car is an AE111 Trueno, BZ-R, and I will not be trying to go for any crazy power numbers (250 max). I am going with the few required internal engine mods (pistons, rods, injectors, fuel pump).
Currently, I have the greddy ultimate in hand, but I'm being told to ditch it and go with the blue.
Therefore, I am looking for a second opinion, and I'm gratefully open to any suggestions.
Thanks.
Greddy Blue or Ultimate for 20v turbo build.
Re: Greddy Blue or Ultimate for 20v turbo build.
I hear more and more often that the blacktop ecu will (eventually) override the Emanage piggyback. Don't know if it's true but that what i hear people saying.

I'd ditch piggybacks for a PNP ECU like this:

Also, I don't think you need to change out rods for your power goal. OEM 4A rods are stout!

If I ran a piggyback I would run the AEM but I do agree with burdickjp I would go with proper engine management.
One other nice and pretty affordable option is the AEM EMS4.

EMS-4s are nice, and could be made plug and play with a jump harness, like this:

At that point, though, a microsquirt would be equally capable:

Options are good!

All great suggestions, and I appreciate them all.

Hey guys,
My build has poncams, toda pulleys, fuel pump, fuel regulator and M.D.I (ultra, Multiple Discharged Ignition System) and MSD coil. I am running the Ultimate and to be honest, I have not see it change the settings. My car does get little use but I drive it about 1 hr total per week on the street and every other month I hit the track. I do have a shitty setup on it because I was waiting on the headers to do a final tune but it's been consistent thus far and I've had it for about a year.

I have a wideband and egt gauge so this is how I can tell it has not changed. But if you can go stand alone... that is the best option. I am in Costa Rica so unfortunately I don't know many people that can tune stuff.

along with yoshi, and burdickjp... I agree go aftermarket management... but here is where I differ from most....
SHOP for a tuner FIRST!!! Look around YOUR town, or local area for a shop who tunes for a living. Find out what they have a LOT of experience tuning. Even if you plan on tuning it... just to COVER YOUR BUTT... do a bit of research and add that as one of the criteria to what system you decide on......

True story. It sucks to buy an ECU and find out nobody nearby has any experience with it. Ran into that situation with AEM EMS and had to limp it 5hrs to AMS in Chicago.
