what would be the reasoning behind claiming 'stock cams', when they're not ? I can't c n e
All these random examples above would never collude and conspire to decieve
Their mods definitely show a clear pattern...... outside the box
back in the day, u had to go thru several regrinds, experimenting with lobe centers. Gets expensive
later DOHC have much latitude via adjustable cam gears..... even stock cams
the venerable 2/3TC powering rollas and starlets was the weapon of choice down in the dirty south
motors were in abundance (=dirt cheap), very rugged, simple as it gets, & needed no mix-matching
I witnessed them slewing monsters n take no prisoners - street or strip
500+ hp on stock bluetop cams?

But they are OEM stock, so they can and will brag about that fact. Only, they reground them. IF they actually did that.

There must be some "pioneers" in the game back then or else today there wouldn't be any chest thumpers, no?

Yes I saw them too overhere on my island. And, again, back then they've even build a turbo 3TC using a 4Y crank. The combo didn't last long as a real full on 3TC bullit but boy was it a torque monster. This team even had a mix consisting of a 4Y block/adapted 2TGEU head with Chrysler's 360 Magnum smallblock valves turbocharged in the wings. That one didn't last long either. Seems those combos don't like stratospheric rpms.

port the head/add big valves, call it untouched.... bore/forge pistons, call the block virgin
regrind oe cams, call em stock. To go thru all that is plain foolish. What is there to gain ? seriously
if one is that 'secretive' (or slimey), why not just keep it ALL to themselves ? who cares
Regrinds r simply that. Regrinds. When specified they list the 'new' specs
PSIracing 3TCs stood out. Turbo magazine featured some of their cars way back (b 4 the game blew up)
i recall seeing some "custom crower 3TC stroker" crank for sale on 3TCgarage years ago..... 2.2L
I've seen a turbo escort guy get his 1.9L stock crank offset ground, where final displacement was close to 2.3L.... so
It would 've been interesting to c what PSI would've done with a 4AGE. Its 3SG nowadays

Looking at those 500hp 4AGE builds (stock cams or otherwise) in those images one thing is clearly visible, the intake manifold runners are really short. And as Jondee said earlier about the volume increase with bigger intake valves AND Dan's port treatments and ....... m-a-y-b-e .... a dedicated stroker crank funds permitting.... easy 500bhp at 2bar boost? Me thinks? The Finns were already there 25 years ago soooo.......

Re: 500+ hp on stock bluetop cams?
stroke for displacement = more and broader torque curve. 7AG will cover 99% of us. 9AG is an option for the hardcore $$$$$
1.6 has no prob hiitng 500 atw. See 410kw(~550hp) @26psi on a stock ZE block, 1st post in the thread
http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/thread ... ost1299677
significant gains in head work + aftermarket cams. Gotta justify the $$$$ in headwork n bigger valves
4AG 'drop-in cams' ~$450 & up. I'm still not clear on when/if u need $150-200 springs for boost + a ~7500 redline
I always believe in setting a goal, while keeping things in perspective.... so u don't wind up 'turd polishing'
A $1000 CA18 made alot more sense to me than a built 7A, and it came with a better box, electronics, etc...
Rzs sitting in junkyards have hit 500 untouched, with a far more robust torque curve than hi dolar A-serie$$$$$$
