AE92 GT-S Bluetop to Redtop Swap (Wiring Harness Question)

Postby bboy_RES » Tue Oct 08, 2013 3:32 pm

hey everybody. i'm getting ready to swap my bluetop 4age to a redtop 4age in my 88 AE92 GT-S and i'm wondering if the redtop engine wiring harness will plug directly into the bluetop interior wiring harness. I think i read somewhere that some guy did the same swap, but he had to replace the interior wiring harness as well. I'm hoping this isn't the case. any info is appreciated especially if you have experience doing the swap yourself! thanks in advance.

They're not plug and play by any means, but you can repin the harness to work. It'll require you to chop the last 6" or so off your old harness though.

Why "chop" 6" off the old harness? Identify the pins, pull them from the plastic connectors and 'repin' the old connector with the new harness.
One shot, one kill.

The pins aren't the same style, so you'll need to chop and solder.

What about making a jumper harness? I doubt they're available to buy, but you may be able to get the connectors and make your own.

You could do that, but it's cleaner to chop it and solder that last 6". If you were really badass you could get the pins and crimper, they do exist.
