dist. rebuild

I have an '87 fx16. I had new seals and bearings installed in the dist about 10K past. It's leaking again, seriously. The inside of the dist cap had enough oil in it that it was starting to coke up where the spark was jumping to the contacts. Do the distributors wear to the point that new seals and bearings are useless, or did I just end up w/a crappy rebuild? I see remanufactured distributors for sale, but I wonder if I'm just buying the same problem again. Any advice?
