Timing on 4AGZE

Postby SlidewayzAE86 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:55 am

Hello. Just wondering if anyone has pics of the correct timing on the CAS along with cams and crank at TDC. Thank you.

As far as I know setting the timing on the 4AGZE is pretty much the same
as on any 16V 4AGE. Number one cylinder at TDC on the compression stroke;
dimples on cam pulleys lining with the marks on the backing plate; notch on
the rim of the crank pulley lined with either the pin on the tensioner bolt
(AW11) or zero mark on the lower cambelt cover. If you have had the cam
pulleys off, check the knock pins are in the correct position, and check that
you can see the dimple on the intake cam when looking in the oil filler.

If all that checks out, line the mark on the CAS gear with the dimple on the
top of the CAS nose, line the CAS fixing bolt with the center of the adjustment
slot and slide that puppy home :)

CAS is Cam Angle Sensor used on the smallport GZE. It does the same job of
sending cam position signals to the ECU as the distributor on the bigport GZE
but without the plug wires (smallport GZE has wasted spark coil packs).
Here it is...
