Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

One of my target goals for my build is a clean shaved bay and I've started tackling what I think will be the hardest part of that: running my own clutch and brake lines. I had no idea what I was doing or what I needed so I took a lot of time researching and coming up with somewhat of a plan. It star...

Re: Fuel system questions...

I'm going to leave the pump in the tank, I want to replace the big ugly fuel filter that was mounted in front of the canister to something inline and runt it along the frame rail. It cleans up the bay more and also works better than one that's 30 years old. I've been looking at the russell ones on J...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

So the vacuum lines I'm keeping are the FPR, ISCV, and the MAP sensor. everything else is capped. I'm currently waiting on some copper nickel fuel line I ordered to show up. I also ordered a 37 degree flaring tool to make the fuel lines. I removed the canister and old fuel filter and plan on doing a...

Fuel system questions...

I am in the process of cleaning up the fuel system in the bay and I'd like to get an inline fuel filter and relocate the evap canister. Has anyone done this and if so what new or universal options did you use? I've read some people delete the canister but in the end most of my research supports keep...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

After taking a second look at what I have, I'm pretty sure most of what can go is gone. I just have to go back and and make sure I reconnect everything like I'm supposed to. I'm trying to learn what everything is actually doing during this part too so that has slowed me down a bit as well. In fact i...

Re: PNW HATCH BUILD (SPACECRUISER)

I just rebuilt my 20 valve and as much as it pains me to say it, I wish I had gone this route. I wouldn't apologize to the purists, They're always gonna hate but it's your car and your style. I'm looking forward to seeing this complete and hear your thoughts on the swap! You may be the inspiration I...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

Thanks, I don't really have a number in mind just want it to run good. The last week has shown the most progress I've had in a while. I took the valve cover to a local machine shop for a cleaning, I was very pleased with the results. Once home, I wire wheeled the rest of it so the paint would stick ...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

Made a little more progress over the past week. I am in the process of cleaning, sanding, and painting the throttle bodies. It was a lot of work but the overall look will be worth it. Here's a couple mounted and painted. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/538/PpMVDO.jpg I also bought a repl...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

Been a long summer and with work and the boy, progress has slowed. Here's where I'm at and the current problems I'm being plagued with..... Even with the SQ engineering extended spark wire, it didn't reach so after thinking about it, I scratched the idea and am going the route of mounting the distri...

Re: Persistent COR and gauge problems, 20V swap

For the oil pressure sender, test the gauge in the cluster by unhooking the wire from the sensor(shows an open to the gauge). The needle should peg low. Then take the same wire and ground it (Just tough the end to the chassis somewhere. Shows a short). The gauge needle should peg high. That will at ...

It's not to difficult unless your runners are really close, but your previous picture doesn't look like that's the case. I would say check to see if you can find it online for cheaper than an autoparts store. I went to advance because they had the metal zipties too. Just take your time and wrap it t...

20v BT ae86: What's needed and what's not?

I don't want this post to seem vague or anything so I'll give you all the information I have and hopefully you can shed some light on what I'm missing or what I can dump. 2 Years ago I was living in WA and I had a shop pull my 16v and swap for a used 20V BT. I knew nothing of the motor and hadn't ha...

Re: Restoring AE86 w/ 4AGE 16v + HKS ITB + Haltech E6X

I recently wrapped my headers in the fiberglass wrap and the wetting I think keeps the small fiberglas strands from getting everywhere more so than making it easier to work with. Make sure if you go this route you wear longsleeve shirt and glove and keep exposed skin to a minimum. The small fibers W...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

Not a whole lot of progress this week. I got my Cusco motor mounts in from BGRS and some wood for the door panel build. So I got one of the mounts refinished with fresh paint. I just need to get some new hardware for it. I also took the coolant block off plate from SQE and actually spent some time c...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

The motor is on stand still right now until I get some parts from SQE and Battle Garage. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but I decided to scrap the kick panels. They protrude to much and I just wasn't feeling them. So I bought some kicks from another member and now I'm going to redesign the do...

Re: Battle Garage contact info needed

I have had issues with any company that is dealing with parts for my 86. I do not think that it is bad business, just difficult to locate and keep in stock genuine parts. I have had no issues with communication with them via facebook messenger. They usually reply within a reasonable amount of time. ...

Today I had a lot of free time so I was able to get the pulleys on the motor. I must've taken the timing belt covers on and off 10 times. Anyway, I started out with just cleaning and primer and paint. You can see some work here: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/537/y7Oiuh.jpg http://imagi...

Thanks, I'm very impressed by it. I had a chance to open up a few packages I had with parts on order. Mostly stuff from ebay. I also replaced the spark plug tube gaskets and the seal washers for the valve cover. http://imagi...
