Re: A broke college kid, and his broken rolla...

got a couple warm days over the weekend and got some work done to the patch! It is getting there, but I still need a bit of work to look perfect. Specifically I need to work on the body line and wheel well arch (gotta get them nice, straight, and smooth) 8-) I started by grinding down the welds a bi...

^^ Hope you figure out the paint situation on the Ipad mount, such a nice idea and it looks really good. So are you re-painting your car? Panda scheme or something different? Goodluck and keep the updates coming!

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch

Love this build! Things seem to be moving along quite nicely. I LOVE the door cards, very sleek and professional looking. I saw you were having some problems keeping the cards flush on the door in some places. This is a very general suggestion (if you haven't fixed it yet), but maybe you can incorpo...

Well, its been a while and sadly, not many updates for you all. Its been so friggin cold here lately that it takes some HUGE determination and motivation to get out of warmth and fight the cold  (I know I'm a baby, suck it up and get out there!) I did however make a lot of progress on repairing...

Re: A broke college kid, and his broken rolla...

Small Update, With the cold temperatures and the rain, progress has been sorta slow on the corolla. It was warmer this weekend so I decided to finally paint the interior. I scuffed, cleaned, and vacuumed till my arms went numb. No matter how hard I tried, I could not completely get all of the dust a...

Some more slight progress. Finished epoxying the underside of the passenger fender, trunk, and also started on the drivers side fender. I Will be epoxying the backside of the drivers fender today, along with finishing the removal of the old seam sealer inside the car. http://i16.photobucket.com/albu...

Wow your body work really does look great so far. :D Sorry about your windshield. That's exactly why I would have mine professionally removed; I always screw stuff up like that. I have to do some similar rust repair with my right rear fender area too... I bought the panel that wraps around the rear...

Re: A broke college kid, and his broken rolla...

I've got to say, this is a pretty high level project for a broke college kid. Sorry if I come off as rude, but how could you afford to build it? Time, patience, an understanding girlfriend, and my fair share of borrowing friends tools to do certain things. Also, I started this thread back in June o...

Re: A broke college kid, and his broken rolla...

Some progress has been made. I got the whole windshield out and pretty much ditched the wolf steel patch panel. Instead I was able to scavenge the lower portion on my stock rusty front fenders. I had to cut out some rust out and weld in a piece to more or less fix it, but it looks and fits A LOT bet...

Re: A broke college kid, and his broken rolla...

Tackled the worst of the rust on the car. Have it all cut out for the most part. Was a little worse than originally anticipated. Hopefully I can weld it all up without issue. I bought a patch panel piece from wolf steel but the fitment was less than ideal. I'm trying to find a right side passenger f...

How's that Harbor Freight hvlp working out? Can't beat $16! Honestly it works great, however I took mine completely apart and completely removed all the cheap silicone adhesive. Once removed, I used teflon tape when putting it back together. It was very time consuming, but well worth it! There is a...

The car looks great! Did you decide to go ITB with your 4ag or stick with EFI? Thanks for the kind words. I actually haven't put the engine in yet. It's on a engine stand awaiting this project to be done so i can then spend all my money on a rebuild of the engine. Once that is done, I plan on going...

more amateur welding! Ended up having to cut the whole thing out and weld in ano...
