Re: Best engine for daily driving and drifting with power.
hmmmmmmmmm... let me see if I can, "clear the wheat from the chaff" 1) The 7 rib block is not more reliable... it is just stiffer, the webbing to support the internals is more stout 2) the 6 speed in question is from the Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS200 models... (currently a version of it is in...

268 is a bit lopey for a stock engine.... it will likely lower dynamic compression as well... if you do nothing to bump static compression.
Orange Rocket is selling a brand new pair of Crower cams for $450... that is pretty cheap.... albeit they are more duration.

Re: Are there rare 1986 corolla Gt-s?
Hi I bought a 1986 toyota corolla GT-S. It came with power windows and power sunroof but no power steering. Also is black an original color for these cars? I saw on my fuel cap door a few red paint showing after paint chips. The engine bay is black. I wonder if the previous owners bought a replacem...

Re: Best engine for daily driving and drifting with power.
A well built 16V with decent headwork can make VERY good power....... To keep it all simple..... run factory ecu and wiring..... 7 rib block(with proper attention to deck height), 3 rib crank and rods. Have the rods modified to accept the larger 20mm pins - press fit. Have the crank and rods prepped...

Tony.... do some research into "pressure recovery". The silvertop combustion chamber (or a welded, and ported blacktop chamber) is more conducive to "pressure recovery" then an unmodified blacktop chamber...... http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/544680_390016947708044_113...

Re: Quick question about 8.9:1 4A-GZE pistons
One additional question, I was reading up on the piston differences and it seems these 8.9:1 GZE pistons are forged instead of cast. Does this mean the block bores should have some extra clearance to allow for piston expansion? Or don't I have to worry about this? I can only hope that I will find a...

A quality port job can add power, and ECONOMY, even while retaining stock parts! Because casting imperfections are removed, not only are power gains likely, but more even airflow promotes even combustion, which promotes cleaner emissions. More airflow, more power... less throttle angle required to ho...
